There are differences between English in the U.K. and English in the U.S.
In the U.S. I usually associate "limey" with the nautical implication.

'Welsh' (spelt like that, actually) is a German word for foreigner, I am a Cymro, and you are (I presume) ex-Irish by several generations, and don't speak the language, only English. Big deal! As to your legitimacy, I cannot comment, but there is no question whatever about mine, sais.
