You didn't mention yourself you mentioned the Dixie chicks. And they 1) had an audience that at the time generally supported the war and 2) violated an unwritten rule of soeaking out against the war and the President on foreign soil during the war

Did I need to mention myself? My allegiance is w/ the Chicks, free speech & the idea of dissent. That was an absolutely horrific period of time in this country when it comes to the concept of free speech and just the basics of what it means to be an American. It was absolutely disgusting, and the perpetrators of that climate are now steadfastly behind someone who claims they opposed the war from day 1.

And I don't give a shit about "unwritten rules" that tell people they have to keep their mouth shut when someone in power is abusing that power and unnecessarily putting brave teenagers who have sword to protect all of us in harm's way. Who makes those rules? Should that REALLY be a rule?

haven't you just made a rule that people shouldn't be judged for what they say.......while judging what people said about the Dixie Chicks?........I guess its just another case of "They are free to say what they want as long as they are saying something I like".......

God, you're stupid. It was the climate you & yours created - completely chilling free expression. There was no counter-point to what the Chicks were saying - just an effort to shut them up.

I have never advocated that people just "shut up." Give an opinion. Counter what they're saying, and see who prevails in the marketplace of ideas.

the question was asked "who made a rule"......I think its fairly obvious that those who objected to what the Dixie Chicks said "made a rule".......its exactly the same thing that occurred when you decided those who supported the war or Trump or both, were fucking idiots......you "made a rule" and criticized those who broke your rule just like those who criticized the Dixie Chicks felt they had broken their rules......

The only reason I asked "who made a rule" is because cawacko said it was an "unwritten rule" that you don't offer dissent on foreign soil during a time of war.
