Ten reasons why a Trump-Putin relationship will be beneficial

yep. there isn't any easy "go to" template to use here. I think there has to be an understanding of the Russian position -primarily the NATO expansion-
but also the treatment of Russia as other then having legitimate security-economic needs.

Conversely Russia has to understand that sanctions and increased military confrontations are going to be the norm
if they don't chill and work a new agenda. ( eventually Russia is going to run out of reserves)

It takes much more then the simplistic thinking we have been using, and in truth it would take a gambit that Putin
wouldn't abuse any glasnost.
We need to have some lower level meetings to get some understandings, and then hopefully an old style summit
to cement that new relationship

I think we all agree then??

IMHO the US position towards Russia seems intentionally antagonistic & sometimes even provocative..

Russia and China won't be able to keep a steady relationship if the past is any indication. They have aspirations which involve the same geographical spheres. Their Cold War relationship deteriorated following the death of Stalin, and disintegrated following the Bay of Pigs. They actively fought a border war in 1969.

as long as there is an outside power that threatens them both (us) they will stick together. In fact if you wanted russia and china to fight you would have to be friendlier to russia to cause friction between them.

That wasn't the case before, although the Chinese leadership is considerably more capable than that of the 50s-70s. They were already skirmishing before Nixon came along, and orchestrated the Ping Pong Policy to open-up China and help drive the USSR further away.

you kinda just made my point yes? How did they want to drive the two apart? By being closer to china?

Yep; in loony liberal land, it's the US that is provocative, not small minded dictators and tyrants. Heck, AmeriKa FORCED Putin to invade and conquer the Crimea; after all, look at all the provocative things we did.....we told him he should not shoot down civilian airliners with his own ground to air missiles, he should pull out of Ukraine and we even tried to defend other nations with an anti-nuclear missile shield in the event of war.

After all, in loony liberal land, it is none of our business and if PutinKin wants to throw his weight around against Europe, then let him do it. Look at how well such policies worked in WWI and WWII!!!

Idiots.

Which is why Nixon's overtures to China were so brilliant. It is a shame it has led to them getting the upper hand these days with idiots like Clinton and Obama.

Lern 2 Reed. Nixon's policy was made possible by the fact that Sino-Soviet relations melted down independently of anything the US did or didn't do.

Sounds plausible enough. We're friends with the Saudis and they have their own share of domestic abuses plus they're the leading exporter of radical Islamic ideology. Go figure.

Yet the Saudis are an ally. Not sure what's different about Russia. Maybe one of Hillary's supporters can explain it.

The Saudis aren't invading their democratic neighnors in overt wars of aggression or brokering ISIL oil, Trump is wrong on Putler and the fascist RF.
