NBC’s Commander in Chief Forum Was an Authoritarian Farce

Lets be even more clear.....Lauer did a good job...he did his job and asked pertinent questions to both Trump and Clinton...he didn't favor one side over the over...
even though he asked Trump twice as many questions as Hillary and one more from the audience than Hillary got....he tried to stop Hillary from filibustering with her long incoherent answers but failed in that....

I expected much less because it was NBC/MSNBC who are usually just extensions of the Hillary campaign crowd....fairer than usual, which it proven by the whining and crying of the liberal Democrats now....

Even Maddow was kinda reserved in the recap especially after she was put in her place when the veteran next to her corrected her mis-statements several times.....I found that especially refreshing......

Even NBC admits he sucked.

NBC News knows the "Commander-in-Chief Forum" was not Matt Lauer's finest hour.

One executive, speaking anonymously, was blunt about it: "Disaster."

The day after Lauer's back-to-back interviews of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, several high ranking sources at the network said they hear the criticism and agree with at least some of it.
Even his internal defenders acknowledge flaws in the forum's production. Lauer was widely criticized for failing to fact-check or follow up when Trump falsely claimed that he was opposed to the Iraq war when it started. Some viewers thought Lauer held Clinton to a higher standard than Trump. The Clinton campaign agreed -- it blasted off a fund-raising email on Thursday afternoon titled "Matt Lauer."

But this was not merely partisan warfare. Prominent journalists were sharply critical of NBC. And several people who were sitting in the audience told CNN that they were frustrated too.

New York Times TV critic James Poniewozik wrote Thursday that Lauer seemed "unprepared on specifics of military and foreign policy: "He performed like a soldier sent on a mission without ammunition, beginning with a disorganized offensive, ending in a humiliating retreat."

We should have torn down factories in France, Netherlands, Belgium, etc... and brought them back to the US after WWII. Freedom isn't free!

We didn't have to tear them down. They were already in ruins.

Why do you think the USA led the world in manufacturing post-war?

Lauer was supposed to ask Hillary about her Labor Day weekend and how the yoga classes were coming, then go onto asking Trump a bunch of loaded questions about hating Mexicans and Megyn Kelly.

Then he wouldn't have sucked lol.

This is sort of a good hack/homer test for you. If literally everyone else in the country who has commented about that forum said that Lauer did a terrible job & treated the candidates differently, and you think it was just great...

Well, you may be a Trump hack/homer. These are good moments to step back and look at this stuff. Good personal growth to be had here.

Sounds about right. Liberals expect Trump-bashing and Hillary sucking-up. If they don't get it, they flip out. They're used to the way things are on Meet the Press (AKA Meet the Trump-Bashers)

I don't need to read anything again but you need to do your research. Trump made his comment about knowing more about ISIS than the generals do back in NOVEMBER 2015. That's NINE months before he got the intelligence briefing of AUGUST 2016 that he's referring to. Now unless you're trying to claim Trump has extra-sensory powers there's no way he could have known anything about Obama's relationship with the generals until August.

you think his comment following his briefing was referring to something that happened nine months ago instead of what happened in August?......

I've said it a few times, but I 100% get people who are voting Trump just to vote against Hillary. I've had elections like that, and I understand that a lot of people don't like or even hate Hillary. I get it.

But the folks who are actually gung-ho about Trump as a candidate? They need to step back & put things in perspective. There is no way to hear what he has said over the past year & think that he is even remotely in the ballpark of being a decent candidate for President. He's really a two-bit con man & fraud, in business and as a candidate. This isn't speculation or partisan melodrama. This is factual and easily proven.

I started out supporting Trump reluctantly......the more lies I heard from the left I began to look forward to his election so I can watch the Hillarytards smolder.......

Hilarious. No politician has more lies, to his dishonor, than Trump. And this compares to every candidate who entered the 2016 race, not just Hillary.
