Following the San Francisco 49ers' final game of the preseason, the controversial Colin Kaepernick took to the postgame podium to discuss why he elected to not stand during the national anthem once again.

During the press conference, Colin answered several inquiries regarding his actions -- going into detail about a meeting with former Green Beret/long snapper Nate Boyer, and how they discussed alternative ways to maintain their protest while displaying support for the US military (kneeling).

The highlight of the session was Kaepernick making a bold pledge: saying he will donate the first million dollars he makes this season to community organizations and charities that support his cause.

This situation is far from writing its final chapter, but, one thing that is clear after Thursday night: Colin Kaepernick is putting his money where his mouth is.

Back when I was a kid raised Catholic, this was called 'penance' for our sins

Pretty sure it's just called "charity" or "good works." Penance is an act of contrition that you make, and is generally some form of prayer, but could involve giving time to charity. Also, there are indulgences, which are penance for other people's sins.

Key words are "that support his cause."

1. All he's doing is aiding HIS group(s). so what ? Bin Laden put his money where his mouth was too.

2. He doesn't have a "cause". He claims Blacks in America are "oppressed". What a joke that is when they get Affirmative Action preference ahead of Whites in job hiring, job promotions, college admission, college financial aid, business loans, etc.

Oh you poor oppressed 70% minority. I don't have the time of day for whiny ass losers like you who don't have the tools it takes to hack it. Quit being a whiny assed cry baby and stop making excuses for your failure. Grow a pair and act like your a man for once in your life and do something about.

If you're white, male and not succeeding in America you're the lowest form of loser there is. Quit being a bitch, grow the fuck up, stop being a spoiled little boy and learn a skill or go to school or get your lazy ass to work but don't bring your simple minded and childish excuses in here and irritate us real men who did do the work and made the sacrifices and didn't cry and whine and make excuses and blame others for their failures.

Grow the fuck up and be a real man for once you fucking pussy.

It was called tithing if you're going to introduce religion into this debate.

11% of his pre tax salary is pretty generous.

Now he has to cut that hair.

This is nothing. I can remember on TV Joe Gariagiola telling Kareem Abdul Jabar he should leave the country because Jabar said "There are some things we can do better in America."

Didn't conservatives scream about Muhammad Ali, too?

Dissent is now a sin.

Got it. Gotta love freedom.
he has a perfect right to dissent-as long as the NFL allows it -
he's not violating his contract either.

I have a perfect right to call him out on being a jackass, and using a shitty/inappropriate venue -as well as his
mindless generalizations.
when I hear "the oppressed" and such I don't pay it any further attention -it's worthless generalized ad homs.

BTW - I couldn't care any less if he sits down during the National Anthem. I think this move will be far more effective than that and I am glad he made this choice. If he really wants to make a difference gather people together to make neighborhoods safer. Maybe at some point if he takes effective action he can begin standing up again... Either way, he's fine. Sit if you want, man. I joined the military to ensure people would have that right if they want it.
