Why conservatism (may) have failed.

I think conservatism will fail to the new generations and thus forever for a few reason. After Trumps imminent demise too boot.

1) Liberal media. Let's face it, you can't compete when 90% of what people see, hear and read supports the DNC platform and intentionally misinforms you on the other side (conservatism, libertarianism.)

2) Talk show hosts, IE de facto leaders of the GOP/Conservatism were too busy selling out. Rush, Hannity, Levin, Savage, etc, All these guys do is hawk shit on their shows, and sell out. All are millionaires. I think if they weren't so busy selling 'Pro flowers" and lifelock, to us they might have been able to stay on message. Plus they got conservatives ANGRY! Outraged! But too outraged to the point where they nominated a crazy man.

3) Govt corruption. Starting with Obama. Handing out Amnesty like candy, and allowing 11 million illegals to stay here. They will all vote Dem because of his "favor". While at the same time selling america's security down the river. Dems in congress block every border securty measure. They want illegals coming here and voting for them.
 
I agree that freedom will fail because too many people think they can trade security for freedom. And I am not just talking about national security. I am talking about economic security. Promising free stuff is a much easier message than "you should work for it". Telling people that their failures are the fault of "the evil rich" is much more compelling than "you fucked up".

Oh sure people like to talk about freedom in the abstract but true freedom scares most people to death. That is why they will rail against gobblement spending yet say "don't touch my Medicare or SS or school lunches or........."

I thought the conservative talk show hosts served a valuable service pre internet where it was rare to hear conservative voices on the airwaves. With the internet there are many places we can hear conservative viewpoints now. These talk shows hosts today are less about education and more about culture wars and anger.

All of those talk show hosts, except Levin, are shilling for Douchebag Donald.
 
Rush seems to go back-and-forth on staunchly supporting him, and simply getting a kick out of him. Levin is not merely pro-Cruz but a #NeverTrump guy. It's given me a respect for him that I never use to have because of how shrill he is.

He can be shrill. I listened when he was yelling at Republicans for not shutting down the government and using constitutional measures to force Obama to repeal Obamacare as if that was ever going to happen. But then his listeners get all fired up and angry over something that can't occur and we end up with someone like Trump who's angry all the time.

Since when has propaganda ever been classified as educational? Before the right wing talk shows began on radio in the 90s there were more self identified conservatives/Repulicans than Liberals/Democrats or moderates/independents. Now largely due to right wing media propaganda outlets moderates/independents are the largest self identified political faction. It appears right wing media educational format, as you call it, has been failing badly. Why is that?
 
What are Americans actually free to do? Think? Most of them don't seem to have had a thought since 1950, and those are just their masters'.

I agree with this 100%. Before I grew up and got out of dad's house where all I could watch was the nightly news (usually ABC) I gathered that the republicans were just political trouble makers and all they did was support the rich people.

If that's what you got out of it it's probably what you got from your father (no disrespect intended). The lack of an overt advocacy of one party vs. the other has never been a form of bias. I have also seen the unintended affect of right wing media propaganda outlets in that they have alienated significantly more from the GOP then they have attracted. Large numbers of the educated and professional class have abandoned the party because of the far right wing propaganda and as you can see in the polling numbers that self identified conservative/republicans have declined steadily since 1988. Hell I'm one of the ones they lost. Between the racism and the anti-intellectualism and the kow-towing to plutocracy and its self fullfililng prophecy for failed government and military adventurism, the GOP has lost its way and the propaganda puppet masters have played no small part in that.

I mean when I was in college it was the GOP that was the egalitarian party, the party of merit and the party of effective and efficient government. Those days are sadly gone.

If only they did speak of that. Right wing media never has. What it does provide is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. That sir is propaganda. This is what the vast majority of right wing talking heads and right wing media outlets like Fox News and leftwing propaganda media like MSNBC.

If you don't have the ability to discern propaganda from factual and objective information than you are not informed. You're simply buying what they are selling. Right wing radio and Fox news, in case you haven't been really listening, are not the Wall Street Journal. They are not "biased". They are, in fact, by the definition I just provided, propaganda.
