Libertarians want to legalize drugs

Laws that can be enforced effectively do work.
The problem is drug laws are inherently unwinnable.
Look back at the 60's when there was no DEA - we all smoked weed, and some few did hard drugs.

Look at drug use today. By being illegal they create cartels that can never be wiped out. You take down one -another takes it's place.

From an individual pov -you can't get legitimate drugs..all you can get is places to go cold turkey.
People are forced into life of crime - and rob and steal for their habits- and hurt an kill everyone else.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result. That's what our drug war is.

The DEA costs a fortune and does very little to halt drugs.

no they weren't "rampant". There has always been drugs back to ancient China, and I'm sure other cultures.
But there wasn't international cartels.
Draconian drug laws do not work -now it's cheap heroin in the north/northeast. It's always something -pill mills before that

The laws that are effective are laws that treat drugs like the medical substances they are.
Look at methadone maintenance. we give heroin addicts a drug that gets them through the day.
That's the model that works best. You have to allow drug for drug addicts in the most controlled way possible
Ignore the prick, he is a waste of space.

This board is very bi-partisan in the sense we have trolls and a*holes from both the right and left sides of the political spectrum.

Fair enough, I said he's a troll though, I didn't say anything about whether he's following the rules or not. Whether or not you allow trolling is up to you. I see in the controls I have the power to make him go away. He's one of the most pure trolls I've ever seen, he makes zero attempt to contribute to any thread he's in

I'm not a mod nor saying anything about the rules. I was just adding to your point about people trolling. I have that poster on ignore and think it a wonderful feature. We all come here for different reasons. The beauty of the ignore button is not having to read those who make the board less enjoyable.

Fair enough, and I didn't object to what you said so much as I didn't want anyone to think I was calling for a moderator.

We're good!

Addicted to painkillers? Why am I not surprised that you are a Libertarian who doesn't care how many kids die as long as you get your fix?
no. it's the new Center for Disease Control protocol coupled with the re-shecheduling up of even innocuous painkillers like Tramadol.
There are going to be a bunch of ageing baby boomer running around ( or creeping around with a walker) in pain

Quit lying.

You're hooked and you don't care how many precious children are killed as long as you can score your pills.

you figure it out.
what is the new CDC protocols for both short term and chronic pain? What does the new re-scheduling mean to consumers/patients..

I have figured it out. You crave drugs and are willing for children to die to satisfy your addiction.

you are clueless. It's a complex issue driven by the DEA ( who wants to limit any drugs -but especially narcotics because of "diversion"
to the point it's actually effecting peer review.

I was talking to a local newspaper columnist. explaining all these factors. She told me to become an advocate for pain management.
I mentioned to her
"and I'm supposed to advocate for pain management-when all it takes is "what about the children dieing?" no thanks"

You are a perfect example of hysteria driven policy -and I'm not going to put myself out there because of it.

There are other ways to combat diversion ( pill counting/ drug tests) but it would take a serious dialogue -
and all there is now is "opioid crisis" i n the news.

It's typical American thought. lurch from crisis to crisis without understanding the underlying factors.

You're a junkie.

Not one word of compassion from you for the child whose life was sacrificed on the altar of Libertarian ideals?

Get help.

These are dangerous compounds.Guns are dangerous weapons. kids drink drain cleaners.
The world is out to kill you.
How much safety do you want the gov't to assure, at the expense of your quality of life?
That IS one thing Libertarians look at -unlike mindless Democrats, or reactive Republicans

As mentioned there are way to track abuse and diversion. But it's so much easier to just stop writing pain meds.
Who's going to suffer?..oh wait..WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN???? :awesome:
