Colin Powell suddenly forgets a conversation he remembered quite well back in June

Colin Powell — no doubt after he got serious heat from his fellow Republicans — currently claims not to remember a certain dinner conversation from 2009 wherein he advised Hillary Clinton, who had a few months earlier taken over the position he once held as secretary of state, to use a private email account just like he did.
He says that he doesn’t remember it now, but he sure did two months ago:

But last June, while reporting on Powell’s advice to Clinton for my book, I contacted his office for comment—and got a very different answer.
His principal assistant, Margaret “Peggy” Cifrino, informed me then via email that their calendar showed that the Albright dinner had occurred in June 2009. While he didn’t recall some details of the dinner because it had occurred seven years ago, according to Cifrino, he remembered what he did and didn’t say to Clinton on the topic in question that evening:

He does recall sharing with Secretary Clinton his use of his email account and how useful it was and transformative for the Department. He knew nothing then or until recently about her private home server and a personal domain, nor, therefore, could he have advised her on that or suggested it. By June I would assume her email system was already set up.

So it is perplexing for him to say he doesn’t remember that dinner conversation at all now, since, according to his own assistant, he remembered at least some of what he said as recently as two months ago.

UPDATE: More from the dinner conversation Colin now says he doesn’t remember:

In Man of the World: The Further Endeavors of Bill Clinton, to be published in September by Simon & Schuster, I report on a dinner party that former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright hosted for Hillary Clinton several months after she assumed that office in 2009, with Powell in attendance:

Toward the end of the evening, over dessert, Albright asked all of the former secretaries to offer one salient bit of counsel [to Clinton].... Powell suggested that she use her own email, as he had done, except for classified communications, which he had sent and received via a State Department computer on his desk. Saying that his use of personal email had been transformative for the department, Powell thus confirmed a decision she had made months earlier.

But she didn't do it like he did. He kept sensative info secure.

Nope.

"...a final State Department investigation...concluded that past secretaries of state, including Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice's immediate staff, "handled classified material on unclassified email systems." The findings come as the FBI investigates a private email server used by Hillary Clinton during her time as secretary of state."

"...a final memorandum" issued by "[t]he State Department's internal investigation arm" found that former secretaries of state "handled classified material on unclassified email systems." The State Department found that emails handled on private email accounts associated with Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice contain "information classified at the Secret or Confidential levels.'" Former Secretary Powell responded that those identified emails were not marked "'Confidential at the time and they were sent as unclassified,'" seemingly underscoring Secretary Clinton's defense that "the State Department is classifying documents too aggressively" (emphasis added).

OMG..another book as source.. I'll have to start a few from Clinton Cash...
The thing is in 2009 Clinton already had the private server set up and running ( without firewalls at that time also).

He was giving her personnel advice. Use Email to interact with her staff was what Powell did and advocated.

Clinton dragged him into this with her "Powell did it too "rationalization .As usual Clinton blames everyone around her for her screw ups.

There was no 'Low side" when Powell was Sec of State. That's why he used an AOL account.

The State Department inquiry identified 10 messages sent to Rice's immediate staff that were classified and two sent to Powell, according to Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the ranking member on the House Oversight and Benghazi committees. The emails, Cummings said, appear to have no classification markings, and it is still unclear if the content of the emails was or should have been considered classified when the emails were originally written and sent. In an interview with POLITICO Thursday. Powell vigorously disputed the sensitivity of the information sent to him through personal email,

They weren't talking about the private server. Powell suggested she follow his lead and "use her own email, as he had done, except for classified communications."

She was 100% wrong and stupid to do what she did but Powell needs to man up to the conversation too.

Clearly a phony "christiefan, monicker i.e., a libturd stooge's muddled comprehension of what did or did not happen because it's something cooked up by an ESTABLISHED MONUMENTAL LIAR & FRAUD KILLARY should be noted in attributing any veracity to the usual vomit of a follower of said POS Killary.

I realizethat. Clinton is using the excuse she could use a private account because of what Powell said.

The private server makes a difference
The lack of a firewall for the first 15 months makes a difference
Powell was talking about using Email for personnel uses.

In short tying Powell into any 'reasoning' she used is faulty and incomplete thought.

I'm sorry Christie but this is the sort wag the dog partisan crap I could care less about. Virtually every objective observer understands the email fiasco is primarily another partisan witch hunt.

Don't agree, she broke the rules on an ocean going scale, if somebody in the military or government other than her did that they'd be serving time. She exposed state secrets to hackers by using a highly insecure email server. Why didn't she have two email accounts like normal people?

It's not just "broke the rules"..she corrupt. she's a poster child for arrogance of power. She's a threat to Constitutional rule. She's a warmonger.
She's a Wall St whore. She's a chronic liar. She's a race baiter/divisive...There is absolutely nothing good to recommend her.
