What exactly is EXTREME VETTING & is it legal??

I am not against using it, and I am almost certain we already are...

I am just laughing at Trump calling it Extreme Vetting and acting like its some new brilliant idea.

If you want a true laugh riot, ask Pastor Pimp to spell "vet".

Religion test?
Unconstitutional.

These aren't citizens, they are foreign aliens wanting to become citizens, the Constitution does not apply, there is a long history of ideological tests for naturalization and religion, whether it be Islam, Christian Identity, or Shintoism, are ideologies the same as any other. The congress can restrict immigration on any grounds it sees fit, but don't take my word for it just ask the SCOTUS which in United States ex rel. Turner v. Williams the court concluded that Congress "possesses the plenary power to exclude aliens on whatever ground [it] deems fit."

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson decided against ending a secret U.S. policy that prohibits immigration officials from reviewing social media posts of foreigners applying for U.S. visas, according to a report by ABC News.

Johnson decided to keep the prohibition in place in early 2014 because he feared a civil liberties backlash and “bad public relations,” according to ABC.
“During that time period immigration officials were not allowed to use or review social media as part of the screening process,” John Cohen, a former acting undersecretary at the Department of Homeland Security for intelligence and analysis, told ABC News.

One current and one former senior counterterrorism official confirmed Cohen’s account to ABC.

A DHS spokesman told ABC News that in the fall of 2014 after Cohen left, the department began three pilot programs to include social media in vetting, but officials say it's still not a widespread policy and a review is underway.

I think what he described is okay Constitutionally. Its also not extreme nor will it be effective.

Its basically asking a potential immigrant if they are now or ever have been an enemy of the United States, then looking at their social media to see if they ever posted anything to suggest they were an enemy of the United States.

If they say they are friendly to the U.S. and they never posted anything negative on social media... they are in!

They need to be asked specific questions regarding their beliefs; such as, how they feel about homosexuals, wife beating, leaving Islam, Jews, Sharia etc. many having been raised in their backwards culture since birth where these views are in the majority, acceptable, and mainstream will likely answer honestly, they certainly did in the PEW surveys.

You think the Obama government is telling you the truth when it's convenient to bolster your master's arguments, but they lie the rest of the time, lapdoggy?

Just because its not being done by Immigration Officials does not mean its not being done by the Government, or contractors.

it's another self-imposed insanity. did you read it? immigration 'officials' are the ones making decisions on ..immigration

was primarily a question of optics," Cohen said. "There were concerns from a privacy and civil liberties perspective that while this was not illegal, that it would be viewed negatively if it was disclosed publicly."

90% of them were open and honest about hatimg Jews, gays, and supporting Sharia. We aren't just looking for trained current ISIL members but those who share their beliefs or who are not compatible with living in a western liberal democracy, and sorry to say the overwhelming majority of Muslims are not.

You're sorry, all right.

Now, that's just brilliant. Make a rule preventing immigration officials from looking at applicants social media. Social media may be the best way to weed out the bad apples, so let's make a rule so we can't look at it.

Brilliant.

Because terrorists planning to infiltrate the USA would post bigoted rants online that could be traced back to them?
