1St Emperor trumpf doesn't seem the type to concern himself w/ trivial matters such as right, wrong, good, bad, legal or illegal, as long as it is for a good cause which is essentially translated to be whatever the hell he wants.....

You can't always get what you want. But if you try some time, you just may find, that you get what you NEED.

I need orange clowns to go back to their suitcases.

The SCOTUS has ruled several times that ideological tests for immigrants is perfectly Constitutional I'd be happier with a total ban on Muslim immigration though.

It's not a constitutional issue and even phrased as 'partial Muslim immigration ban' it polled well. Now that Trump has reformulated it to 'ban on immigration from certain countries' it should poll even better.

I think what he described is okay Constitutionally. Its also not extreme nor will it be effective.

Its basically asking a potential immigrant if they are now or ever have been an enemy of the United States, then looking at their social media to see if they ever posted anything to suggest they were an enemy of the United States.

If they say they are friendly to the U.S. and they never posted anything negative on social media... they are in!

contrast it with Obama vetting, which includes getting a cup of coffee and a donut.....then finishing the NYT's crossword puzzle while you re-ink your rubber stamp........

Really, do you have a citation?

Funny, I know that's not true but even if it were it would be about as effective as what Trumpovitch is proposing.

we don't use social media now ( no idea why not?) -we should be using everything. Trump has a good idea

Is there any example from the past where this would have helped?
good lord man. I'm not privy to specific vetting of Syrians/Afghans/Mideast etc. Maybe the san Bernandino woman/couple? I'd have to reasearch
But it stands to reason to use anything that gives a truer picture of who wants in. I was floored when I heard we weren't already doing this.

Social media is a relatively new phenomenon.

Rest assured that the NSA knows exactly who everyone is online.

Tailored Access Operations tools are available to anyone now, BTW.

that sounds like a setup to exile citizens who are unhappy with the overreaching federal government........

No, you must be Muslim trying to enter the USA legally to be evaluated.

Trump promises to never use such a process against white Americans...doesn't he?

I am not against using it, and I am almost certain we already are...

I am just laughing at Trump calling it Extreme Vetting and acting like its some new brilliant idea.

Sure there is.

Let's say Watermark a young man from Mississippi made a credible threat against the President of the United States online and was interviewed by federal agents as a result.

Even if they concluded that he was harmless after Damocles the site's administrator was subpoenaed, that incident will likely prevent the young man from Mississippi from passing the requisite background checks for employment with a federal contractor.
