No, I think you really don't get it. Radical Islam an ideology more similar to Nazism or Communism than whatever it was that drove an insane woman to drown her kids. There aren't a few tens of thousands of 'kid drowners' setting up shop in Iraq or Syria. But there are that many radical Muslims following a script spelled out in their interpretation of the Koran and Islam.
There's a reason our leaders need to come out and say 'radical Islam': it makes it more difficult for people to maintain the delusion that we aren't confronted with an ideology.
The radicals would prefer we stay unengaged.
Is that so?? Or would they rather we declare war on Islam?? That we deport, harass & extremely vet them??
Forcing them into the waiting arms of the all loving caliph??
Wanting to retaliate is a natural response but is that what is in the best interest of the USA??

Well, engaging in purposeful delusions about an enemy is a novel approach, I'll say that much lol.
And yeah, I think it's to their advantage the longer people stay deluded/disengaged. Though I get your point about retaliation: there's an element amongst the radicals that want us to declare war on Islam for their own propaganda purposes.
But the steeper downside is in the country lacking the political will to respond appropriately to the threat. Also, finally *officially* recognizing the existence of radical Islam provides a basis from which to confront their propaganda. The word propaganda is a polysyllabic term for a pack of lies.
Which is where effective leadership comes in. Our leaders should be able to communicate the fact we aren't at war with Islam but rather at war with an element within in Islam. Which is a fact whether we choose to recognize it or not.
Also, this would force/encourage moderate elements within Islam to better confront and marginalize their radicals---that is the ultimate answer, after all. Recently, 30,000 Muslims protested against Islamic terrorism.
When we start to see more of that, we'll know we're getting somewhere.

Lots of ppl call it radical Islam, will it become magical if a president trumpf or hillary start using it?? & @ what cost?? The good Sunni would take deep offense as well the bad Sunni & SHia, which as been more like a war against them in many ways...
So how do you think that sells on the Arab street?? SOUnd something like the great satan says he is not @ war w/ you, merely some of you..... These ppl are not stupid & they can think for themselves & if you lay it out that way, that is how they are going to take it.
I agree they are their radicals/problem & they need to do much more but IMHO it could also have the opposite effect, & I believe it would..
