Hours after stating his claim of Obama as the founder of ISIL was "sarcasm," Trump says maybe it wasn't.

Donald Trump put his foot on the gas pedal again, driving home the accusation he had reversed himself hours earlier that President Barack Obama founded the Islamic State.

Trump had eased off the claim Friday morning, blasting the media for seriously reporting what he suggested was a sarcastic comment. “Ratings challenged @CNN reports so seriously that I call President Obama (and Clinton) ‘the founder’ of ISIS, & MVP,” Trump tweeted. “THEY DON'T GET SARCASM?”

He seemed to revel in the uncertainty his tweet created, boasting nearly 90 minutes later of pundits’ inability to figure him out. “I love watching these poor, pathetic people (pundits) on television working so hard and so seriously to try and figure me out. They can't!” Trump declared.

But during an afternoon rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, Trump said his initial remark wasn’t “that sarcastic, to be honest with you.”

“So I said the founder of ISIS,” Trump recalled to the crowd, after accusing the president of being “so weak and so bad” that he allowed the Islamic State to grow. “Obviously I’m being sarcastic. Then — but not that sarcastic, to be honest with you.”

How many times can he get away w/ claiming it was poor, ill-advised & inappropriate sarcasm, joking, BS..:palm:

This is what we use to call joking on the square, you say it, but then leave yourself an out~as seen time & again from the childish 70 year old man..

the blood coming out of her whatever, NRA take out hillary, Russians hack her etc etc etc...

Does anyone REALLY think Trump was speaking in literal terms? You would have to be disqualifyingly ignorant of ISIS and its origins to think that *anyone* would think Obama personally founded ISIS.

So, who here thinks that?

In an interview Trump did with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Thursday morning, in which Hewitt attempted multiple times to get Trump to say he was being metaphorical or hyperbolic, Trump repeatedly refused -- and insisted he really meant Obama was a founder of ISIS.

Hewitt prodded Trump, suggesting the GOP nominee meant that Obama "created the vacuum, he lost the peace," and was not to be taken literally. But Trump objected.

"No, I meant he's the founder of ISIS. I do. He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award. I give her, too, by the way, Hillary Clinton," Trump said.

Hewitt tried again, saying: "But he's not sympathetic to them. He hates them. He's trying to kill them."

"I don't care," Trump replied. "He was the founder. His, the way he got out of Iraq was that that was the founding of ISIS, okay?"

This is the same excuse Trump used when he asked Russia to find Clinton's missing emails, I was just kidding? No he was not, if the media and the country were behind Trump on these falsehoods, Trump would be running with it!

That's just it, is it 3/4 of the world? You have to be careful thinking that just because the media and liberals pundits are all aghast about Donald's latest words, then that means '3/4ths of the world' is as well.

Granted, the media has a lot of power and can all but tell some people what they should be frightened or upset about, but at the end of the day, the media are not the people.

It is clear to everybody asides from the most partisan that Obama played a considerable part in allowing Isis to come into being. What's more he sat back and watched them conquer huge swathes of Iraq and Syria. Even Hillary Clinton wanted a rump force of between 20,000 to 30,000 soldiers to be left to ensure that something like that couldn't happen.

The he walked it forward again. :rofl2:

It is odd that I couldn't find a gif of Jackson doing the backwards moon walk from left to right, though I did look for one to complete the visual metaphor with today's Trumpf headline.
It seems Jacko had a good side and only did it one way.
Trumpf, as we know, goes both ways.

That's the point behind Trump's rhetorical device lol. Aren't journalists supposed to be schooled in the use of rhetoric?

And it's clearly a debate Hillary's Legion [lol!] of Media Hacks is determined to avoid. In all my years of observing politics I've NEVER seen the media cover for a politician like this. You can't convince me that the NYT editorial board is so dumb that they think Trump was speaking in literal terms.

No, they have an agenda. It's to protect Hillary [and Obama] and to do anything in their power to prevent a Trump presidency---and its reprehensible. Journalists, by definition, are supposed to be disinterested parties and not surrogates for the Party. But they'll go as far as to make themselves look stupid for Hillary.

But yeah, Obama may not have personally founded ISIS, but he was absolutely instrumental in their ascendency to the top of the miserable Islamic terrorist heap.

And that is a fact.

Did you mean all of that? Or were you being "sarcastic" like your lap dog master.

Oh there is absolutely no doubt that the Press will do whatever is required to get her elected. However he is his own worst enemy as well, he needs to start listening to his PR people.

I tend to agree but I'm also double minded about it. Trump isn't the only one pushing the envelope. The media is in danger of getting so blantantly in Hillary's tank that it could backfire.

well that's it.
The press is beyond bias to now blatant filtering, and hyping a non-story like an "assassination" into a 3 day news cycle
It's the worse I've seen yet. WaPo is an online rag -no other way to describe it.

But KNOWING THIS as a GIVEN..cannot Trump play the game?
It goes right against how he campaigns, but that's what it is.

Your knowledge of history is sad.

Fortunately, you don't write the textbooks. Bush created the vacuum in the Middle East, with a tremendous blunder of a war that you & yours were pouring champagne about & calling the rest of us traitors for opposing. Oh, and most of the early incarnations of ISIS were made up of discontented Iraqi army regulars, who your hero Bush created by stupidly disbanding the Iraqi army (which also added many years to the war itself).

So no - you guys don't get to lecture us on foreign policy, or what was "instrumental" in the rise of ISIS. You have been woefully wrong about pretty much everything, and enthusiastically supported measures that got many people killed and created massive instability.

Really, you should just pipe down now, and let the adults take over.
