Letting folks decide what is best for them, may result in what is not best for us & why democracy is frowned upon in places like Egypt, Gaza. Hell almost all our friends there are hereditary dictators, some of them are of the worst kind..

I think you greatly over-estimate our powers now.

Take Egypt.
When Obama put sanctions on spare parts,and fighters Egypt had already paid for -Sisis just went to the Russiansfor arms,
but also signed agreements for nukes and agriculture.

It's not a mono-polar world anymore; all the more reason for US/regional partnerships - not just static client states

Russia was there before & are trying to get inroads w/ "our good friends in saudi Arabia" but that is does mean it isn't our game still..
