Clinton Surges Ahead In Post-Convention Poll From CBS News


Hillary Clinton pulled ahead of Republican nominee Donald Trump by six points nationally following the Democratic National Convention, according to a CBS poll released Monday.

The Democratic nominee led 47-41 in the poll including leaning voters taken in the three days immediately following the Democratic convention in Philadelphia.

The new CBS survey showed Clinton with a 46-39 lead when respondents who were leaning in favor of one of the candidates weren't included.

When third-party candidates were included, Clinton polled at 43 percent, Trump at 38 percent, and Libertarian Gary Johnson at 10 percent, when including leaning voters.

Trump had a single-point lead, 44-43, in the CBS poll released last week after the Republican convention in Cleveland.

A Morning Consult poll released Sunday also showed Clinton ahead of Trump following the Democratic convention, 43-40. The Morning Consult poll reversed Trump's four-point lead following the Republican convention.

The CBS poll surveyed 1,131 registered voters by telephone nationally from July 29-31, with a margin of error of plus or minus three points.

The final question is if HRC can keep the numbers up or if the bump is only a bounce.

With Trump spitting on the parents of fallen soldiers I suspect she will keep her numbers up.

He lost the Hispanic vote.
He lost the Black vote.
He is now losing the Military vote.

Even if he was riding high on a convention bump, he was further ahead than Romney was at any point in his campaign (including during Romney's own convention bump). That's genuinely frightening. America has like a 40% chance of ending as a country this year.

A poll released by CBS News on Monday found 46 percent of voters said they would vote for Clinton in November, a seven-point lead over her Republican rival Donald Trump (39%)

Clinton’s bump comes after Trump gained a slight edge over his Democratic opponent after his own party’s convention in Cleveland. Last week, a RealClearPolitics average of polls showed Trump ahead by 0.2 percentage points.

On Monday, Clinton held a 2.2 percentage point lead over Trump in the RealClearPolitics average.

A New York Times average of national polls has Clinton ahead 43-41 in a match-up against Trump.
