Dems hit 1st night out of the park

He very sincerely tied everything to Clinton & endorsing her. I thought he did as well as he could to try to mend fences between the supporters.

The 1st part of the speech, his supporters were going nuts, and I thought there was a chance he could go all Cruz.

Mend fences? Less than 3 months ago, Bernie said Hillary Clinton was not QUALIFIED to be President. What has she done in that short of a time to make her qualified in Bernie's eyes? She's either still not qualified, Bernie is a liar, or some combination of both.

Maybe Bernie's a liar along the lines of Trump lol.

Hillary is an inveterate liar that has told lies with national security implications. That's a big difference.

Bernie has done a complete turnaround with his endorsement of Clinton. I'm curious as to what Hillary could have done in his eyes in less than 3 months for him to now say someone that wasn't qualified now is. The lie to which I refer has yet to be determined. Is it he really thought she was qualified 3 months ago and was lying to try and win something that was so rigged he never could or is he lying now to be a good little Democrat? Either way, one can't be unqualified for the highest office in the land and suddenly be qualified 3 months later.

should have specified, an illegal immigrant. If she is so worried about shipped off to mexico she wouldn't be on stage at the DNC Convention in front of the entire world. It's that simple. The message is disconnected from the reality of what was in front of us. That's the stuff people need to pay attention to.

they obviously offered her family the witness protection program......a house in a sanctuary city with ten Get Out of Jail cards and free health care......

Michelle Obama was amazing. I am going to miss her so much. The Obama's leaving the White House is the worst political thing to happen for me in my lifetime.

Cory Booker...well he was my first pick for VP. And there he was last night. I think he has a big future. I love him.
Cory will be POTUS either 2020, or 2024

I also lament watching the 'coolest' first family in history, leaving office.

Trump tweeted out about Cory Booker last night:

"If Cory Booker is the future of the Democratic Party, they have no future! I know more about Cory than he knows about himself."

Like what does this mean? Did his pal Putin hack Booker too? Trump is such a thug. Just a real low class piece of shit thug. It amazes me that people support him, but I understand just how dumb so many people are. Trump has made his largest gains among whites with no college degree, and his strongest support comes from white men with no college. So...what are you going to do.

Bet on the Obama coalition.

I saw his tweet-fest last night, and was equally confused about that Booker tweet. He's really a child.

I was glad they highlighted his mocking of that disabled reporter. That's Trump's character; it's who he is. The Trump U. victim was also a powerful moment.

Hey...if you didn't understand it, then he wasn't addressing you.

I fully understand that Bolshevik Bernie pushes socialism. I fully understand that he just a few months ago said the person he now supports wasn't qualified. I fully comprehend WHAT he proposes. I don't get how anyone could be stupid enough to support those things.

Who knows. Maybe Bernie got a taste of the "V" and much like many others thinks having one makes her qualified.

White male privilege? White people aren't the ones that have to have government supported programs like affirmative action because they can't do it on their own.
And still, white people account for the highest degree of food stamp use.

Go figure

I'm going to try and be a little more objective but I do have to agree with you. Though serious cracks in the Democratic coalition were glaringly obvious and larger than in the GOP convention you didn't get the feeling of many coalitions falling apart as you did during the GOP convention. To be honest most of the speeches were boiler plate throwing out red meat.

The Dems did start theirs with far, far greater star power than the GOP did and that was significant. I agree that Warren's speech was disappointing. Long on rhetoric and short on fact or policy. Cory, to use a NASCAR phrase, hit his points and delivered and made substantive comments and got the crowed warmed up. Michelle Obama gave a damned good speech but Bernie was unquestionably the star of the night. He hit all the marks right. He urged his delegates to vote for him during the role call vote. Not because it would do anything for Bernie so much as it would keep the impetus on key aspects of his movement. The fact that the platform committee made some serious concessions to Sanders supporters was significant too. They have succeeded in pulling Hillary farther to the left than where she would probably like to be. Bernie also made a very good point to his supporters about it not being about him but about the movement they have started for Government reform.

So yea Bernie crushed it last night. If Bernie lets it go there and that's his last hurrah for this election season then it may not make much of a difference now. If, however, Bernie hits the campaign trail as a surrogate for Clinton and passionately advocates the progressive issues that Clinton has agreed too than Bernie would be a very potent surrogate for Mrs. Clinton. That would bring up the question though of "If Bernie does that, what's in it for him?". I would imagine that if Bernie actively campaigns for Clinton, as she did for Obama, then she will probably nominate him for a cabinet position.

All in all I think last night was a good night for the Dems. I think Bernie did an outstanding job of defining why his supporters should support Clinton over Trump and I think he was affective in persuading many of the Bernie Bros to stop crying and do that.

What was most significant to me was the level of star power on the Dems first night vs. the GOP's first night. This tells me that Clinton has a big advantage in surrogates who will campaign with and for her. Corry Booker, Barry and Michelle Obama, Bill, Sen. Warren, Bernie, The Bidens, etc. Where as the GOP on their first night has a bunch of C list has been hack actors and government officials no one had heard of. That was really quite telling.
Bill Clinton found religion during Booker's speech.

Sanders did a good job of getting his points across, despite the loud cheering by the children who don't understand politics.

Bernie should demand a full roll call vote, just to remind Clinton et. al. that they'd better follow through on their supposed coming to the left moment.

And still, white people account for the highest degree of food stamp use.

Go figure

I did figure and came up with these. 1 in every 3 1/2 blacks is on food stamps while only in 1 every 13 - 14 whites is. You want to look at raw data and misrepresent what it actually says. While whites do account for the largest percentage of users, whites also account for 5 1/2 times the population of blacks in society.

Approximately 27% of blacks (11 million out of 41 million) are on food stamps. There are approximately 17 million whites on the food stamp roles. What you apparently don't get is that to get that 17 million, it had to come from over 200 million possibilities. Whites using food stamps is 154% the number of blacks yet the population difference if 550% greater. Learn proportions. For what you say to be valid, there would have to be 70 million whites on food stamps or only 3 million blacks.

Burned all their big names on the first day ?
Now what?

I mean, how stupid can you fucking be???

We've got two Presidents still to come. One of them was the most talented speaker of his day, the other one is our current President, you may have heard of him, and some say he's got some talent himself. Some even say he is and will continue to be THE rock star in Democratic politics for years to come.

How is it you people hold jobs? Do you?

Apparently those you call children understand that Bernie is a lying piece of shit and do so better than the adults that justify Bernie now supporting someone he said 3 months ago wasn't qualified. It's sad that those you call children know better than those that support the "V"

What Bernie accomplished in this campaign is crazy. I remember when he started out & was speaking to 20 people; I thought he'd be out of the race pretty quickly.

You're right about the platform. He made a huge impact on that, and in moving Hillary more left.

And what an icon for the progressive movement now. There are twentysomethings who were turned onto politics by Sanders, and who will be political leaders and activists for years to come.

Well IMO Bernie should STFD and STFU, but I'm not a fan and haven't been since I first saw through him. And that happened when his campaign hacked the DNC, stole Hillary's data, and then sued the DNC for catching them. And it continued from there. But that's me.

You mean the most talented playboy of the day and the one that had he not be black wouldn't have stood a chance in hell of winning? Strange how you lefties consider such things as talent.
