Kabul explosion: Islamic State 'admits attack on Hazara protest'

So-called Islamic State has said it was behind an attack on a protest march in the Afghan capital, Kabul, that killed at least 61 people and wounded 200.

The IS-linked Amaq news agency said two fighters "detonated explosive belts at a gathering of Shia" in Kabul.

The attack in Deh Mazang square targeted thousands from the Shia Hazara minority who were protesting over a new power line, saying its route bypasses provinces where many of them live.

The Taliban have condemned the attack.

Spokesperson Zabiullah Mujaheed sent an e-mail to the media saying they were not behind it.

A freelance journalist working for BBC Afghan said blood and body parts were everywhere, with debris strewn around.

We never really know who the perps are. It could be anybody with a motive- and just about everybody has got one.

the dynamic is between AQ and ISIS in Afghanistan . Afghanistan is "AQCore" ( Zawahiri) territory,
and from all I know ISIS is still a significant minority compared to AQ.

And this was an extremely unpopular act -even against the Shi'a- in that it was in Kabul where if the Taliban don't likeit
there really isn't any other popular support base
 
This is the age of insane acts of vengeance against insane acts of violence and injustice. Nobody can be sure who the perps are, although everyone is free to speculate.
It might be Isis, the CIA, MOSSAD , an unknown entity with no formal recognition precedent or even an individual.
Vested interests will claim it was one group or another- but in reality it could be anybody with a bomb-making facility and supplies.

We should be looking at scientific analysis of the materials used and find out which manufacturer it came from. Then we should trace its route to the scene of the atrocity. Otherwise Walt Disney could claim responsibility .

it couild be space aliens..looking at the material doesn't mean it's traceable . how do you trace ball bearings ?

You do what you always do -look at the claims made/modus operandi/opportunity to do it,and make the best guess based on that

It's not even the TalIban condemned the attack, he doesn't want it to be Daesh because he is their biggest fan and likely a member himself.

I'm of the belief that compact plastic explosives- such as C4 and derivatives- have a traceable signature.

Space aliens are about as likely as a JPP troll adding something of worth.
