Proud to be gay, proud to be Republican

Thiel made some really good points. If republicans can get over their social dogma, republicans could possibly go back to their glory days about being for the middle class etc. They really need to drop the religious right crap and move on. Gay marriage is here, deal with it. Whining about welfare and minorities doesn't help anything. Come up with solutions instead of whining about it.

I have a gay friend who is republican and several years ago I asked him how he could be republican and he said it was about fiscal policies and so forth and not social issues. Like Thiel, he said I don't have to agree with every plank of the republican platform.

We are not a theocracy, let it go.

We have really come a long way and wont go back. I was so happy to see this said, and cheered for, at a Republican convention.

If not for the social-issue conservatives, this nation would be much more conservative overall, and our policies would be much more to the center & right.

They have kept MANY people from voting Republican. And it's a shame, because there are many more people who are fiscally conservative.

The religious right was the worst thing to happen to conservatism.

The funny thing is that the platform is awful against gays, how can he deny that?

did anything happen in the primaries that may have stacked the delegates with more cruzlims that there should be?

Anywhoo im glad one party in the country is standing up for gays instead of muslims that kill them.

Yes, he support the Republican candidate, that's the biggest denial of all!

He made it clear he doesn't agree with everything in the platform. He spoke about the need to get past bathroom issues. He said he was gay but also an American

You must be talking about Thiel then. Where did he deny it? In fact, he quite expressly talked about it.
It is the most extreme platform thus far, he is in denial! as are the Republicans in the audience, they probably think he plans to enter conversion therapy!

How do you think he is in denial? He flat out said he doesn't agree with it. Many in the audience clapped at his words. Sometimes you are either very obtuse or you're lying. I don't think you're a liar though, but you really get things so wrong it makes me wonder.

liberals forget that the cruz people hijacked several of the platform comitees. Which is why there is a disconect between the reaction to gays in the rules comitees and the general population.

Given that Milo is one of us Trumpians actually love gays a lot.

We've never had it, so nothing to "let go".

Fact is, no one cares about gay, except militant gays and 'rats who think they can use it to rip Republicans.

He is there because he is economically conservative, it must cause him a great bit of dissonance when the GOP platform this year is the worst ever.

The audience clapped, but what does that say about them as well and the platform they allowed to pass?

I really don't care about your personal opinion of me.

How is that a "denial" of the party platform? He said he doesn't agree with all the planks. You're moving the goal posts.

Every party has its freaks. I'm OK with gays. They are just abnormals like people with 6 fingers or those who believe in unicorns. As long as they don't babble about their peculiarities and/or yap about how proud they are being freaks it's OK with me.

Religious freedom is a Constitutional right....spelled out on the document.....

If that right is curtailed or limited by forcing on them to accept or partake in a life style or sexual practice they find is against their beliefs, that is wrong.....even if it
causes an inconvenience to the homosexual community....
This does not mean anyone can deny an lgbt person services that you would normally provide to the public in general.....in other words, baking a cake for a lgbt person is not
infringing on your religions rights.....
