Ted Cruz booed at RNC after declining to endorse Donald Trump (video OF booOS)

CLEVELAND — The official theme of the penultimate night of the Republican National Convention was supposed to be “Make America First Again.”

And Ted Cruz didn’t disagree.

He just disagreed that putting Donald Trump first was the best way to do it.

In an emotional, precedent-shattering address Wednesday, Trump’s vanquished primary rival followed his own conscience — and pursued his own agenda — by refusing to endorse his party’s newly minted nominee, while implicitly putting himself forward as an alternative party leader should Trump crash and burn in November.

For days, the media buzzed about whether Cruz would show support for Trump. But after a primary in which the tycoon mocked him as “Lyin’ Ted” and linked his father — erroneously — to Lee Harvey Oswald, Cruz couldn’t bring himself to do it.

The most Cruz could muster was a curt congratulations.

“I congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night,” Cruz said 20 seconds into his speech. He went on to add — in a line that wasn’t part of his prepared remarks — that, “like each of you, I want to see the principles that our party believes in prevail in November.”

Not the nominee. The principles. Cruz didn’t mention Trump again.

Although I have to hand it to him, because he got the GOP to boo the idea of voting their conscience, the man is incredibly icky.

Cruz is a repugnant ass. It seems that this has become the criteria for entry into US politics.

So all of sudden everyone likes Ted's principles lol. Good to know.
I think what Cruz did was reprehensible and arrogant beyond measure and that he can kiss any Presidential ambition he ever had good bye. If nothing more comes of the Trump campaign than he ended Cruz political ambitions then Trump will have served his country well.

I agree, best thing about this clusterfuck is that it ended Cruz's presidential ambitions and hurt Trump at the same time.

yep, very unpopular, even in his own party........

I think we will hear much more from him as the campaign heats up, as I am sure the hillary campaign will be airing many of his comments on the trumpf

Who said that??

IMHO his "principles" are a bit skewered...

He did not refuse to endorse the trump based on "principles" but rather the personal attacks on him & his family by the bastard..

If the trumpf were to get elected you can count on the Canadian to stick it to him every chance he gets.. He isn't a McCain, he, like trumpf is a smaller man..

Exactly as I thought.........Cruz on refusal to endorse Trump: 'I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father'
