After reliving Michele Obama’s childhood, Melania tried to “humanize” her husband: "He is tough when he has to be but he is also kind and fair and caring. This kindness is not always noted, but it is there for all to see."
Yet … no one can see it. No has stepped forward with evidence of this kind and caring Don. He used his private charity as a slush fund to buy himself shit, and the charity certainly can’t prove any actual charity. He’s marketed various business ventures by claiming he’d donate proceeds to charity, then didn’t. He had to be shamed into donating to veteran’s organizations after he promised to do so, then didn’t follow through. He won’t release his tax returns, and we’re all pretty sure they’d show zero donations to any real charity (beyond his own personal slush fund one).
It is quite remarkable for someone to live as many years as Trump has, and have so few people willing to step forward to defend his kindness. That’s because it simply doesn’t exist.
Now Trump was probably “kind” to Melania. Bought her diamonds and jetted her to exotic places. She was hot and he was married, but showing some of that “loyal” thing by being ready to move on. But that’s not really kindness. That was his penis talking. We know what Trump thinks about women he doesn’t deem attractive. And it really is telling that while Melania claims her husband is kind and caring and that it’s there for everyone to see, she couldn’t scare up a single anecdote to make the point. Not one.
Melania: That is one reason I fell in love with him to begin with.
Ha ha, sure. There are other reasons she “fell in love.” Bigger reasons, obviously.
Melania: Donald is intensely loyal. To family, friends, employees, country.
She doesn’t even believe this. She is wife No. 3 for chrissakes. She is not allowed to believe that Trump is loyal to anyone who is not himself. Certainly not his wives. He certainly isn’t loyal in business, using his bankruptcies to get out of commitments to his creditors, contractors, and people who trusted him with their money. He’s never given a shit, because there isn’t a loyal bone in his body. Trump is not someone who pretends to give a shit about anyone else. It’s not in his personality. It’s so ingrained, in fact, that he doesn’t even bother to hide it: He brags about it. And Melania knows all this, lying in bed with that asshole every night hearing him boast about all the people he screwed over. And rather than recoil at that horror, she has embraced it. Moving on ...
Melania: He has the utmost respect for his parents, Mary and Fred ...
He loves his parents (and his siblings)! We’re supposed to be impressed at that most basic tenet of humanity. But hey, he has cleared that lowest of hurdles.
Melania: His children have been cared for and mentored to the extent that even his adversaries admit they are an amazing testament to who he is as a man and a father.
Show me these critics that laud his asshole children as “amazing testaments” to how great Trump is. I mean, who talks about their children as being “cared for and mentored”? What the fuck kind of language is that? My kids are loved and nurtured. They’re not “cared for” and “mentored.” How clinical can these people be? Maybe that’s why they’ve grown up to be assholes like this?
But having read the speech she wrote but didn’t write, I’m struck by the absence of one word: “honest.” There’s nothing referring to her husband as an honest person, or any word with the same meaning. She doesn’t pretend he’s not a liar, an exaggerator, a braggart, a philanderer, a cheater. She doesn’t pretend that he’s open and transparent and wiling to open up his finances so voters can get an actual read on who he is as a person.
That omission was the most honest part of Melania’s speech.
