My defense of Pence :)

Its been a couple of days and I still hate pence :) Hoping it will suddenly change to newt.

I tried to turn off my partisan lenses and look at things like a manafort would. Someone who doesnt care what side hes on as long as he wins and it looks like Pence got the nod for much of the same reasons why Warren would get the nod if she did.

There are some unchanged trends in this years polling.

1. Trump does better than an average republican in blue states sometimes putting them into play

2. Trump does worse than an average republican in red states sometimes putting them into play.

3. There are a lot of undecided + johnson voters.

If you look at it logically then it seems the social conservatives and other traditional republican groups are not as committed to Trump as his new core group of protectionist / socially liberal Republicans. Lets call this the new nationalist wing of the repub party. So we have a choice aimed at galvanizing the other wing of the party. (the conservative wing)

Does it really matter if you win by 40 in utah? Well no. And i think romney would have given up 30 of his 40 point lead in utah for 1 point in florida but even if these social conservatives in competetive states dont make a majority if it moves them from undecided to Trump then it may give him the win.
 
Pence is a good pick. Of course we'll be exposed to the tired and lame homophobia bs, meanwhile his detractors are just fine with the congressional perjury, chronic lying and deceptions of Hillary.

Actually not.

Socons and Evangelicals are already resigned to vote for Trump – or not; and those who won’t vote for Trump won’t do so because of Pence.

Otherwise, Pence does nothing to attract weak democrats and democratic-leaning independents to the ticket, voters any republican needs to win.

Last, VP picks have no positive impact on a given ticket in any event.

if that was the case then #2 would not be true and "never trump" would not exist
