With the sorry condition as to what passes as entertainment on TV, this particular convention should draw better than normal ratings for these things and could set a ratings record.

This is Trump's convention, after all. That knowledge alone will drive the ratings up.

Exactly. I was 9... I remember watching the results of the 1976 election and I was 5 then... Mom let me stay up late and watch the states turn colors. I was young and dumb and rooting for Carter.... Just 4 years later, a burgeoning young Libertarian, I was rooting for Reagan.
 
I'll watch both for sure. Some of the speeches are boring, but some are definitely entertaining.

I'm really interested to see what approach Trump will take. He's weaker w/ crowds when he goes the teleprompter route - but I don't think he can get away w/ his usual loose & meandering style for a convention. It could be a real make or break for him.

This one may be just as action filled if the nitwits do they are threatening...... Cleveland will a cloud of tear gas.....hope he cops bring enough ammo.

Do you remember the William F. Buckley - Gore Vidal near fist fight as both were commentators for that convention as the radicals rioted outside?

Four years later, those radicals who were rioting outside became a legitimate political wing of the Democratic party when they nominated George Mc Govern.

i got that beat all too hell. The first convention I watched was the 68 Democratic convention. Been seriously down hill since the .
 
Best moment of the night was Rudy Giuliani's fiery speech defending the country's police departments. I never thought Rudy had this much fire and passion in him. I would vote for this man if he had gotten or ever gets the GOP nomination for president, I like him that much.

Mrs. Trump did an outstanding job also talking about her legal immigration and how her parents taught her the value of hard work.

The Benghazi survivors were also outstanding describing their combat ordeal. The entire night is rated a plus by me. The patriotic speeches and the make America safe again theme was spot on.

Surprisingly little to no violence according to what I caught on my morning news reports although this might have been updated by this hour of the morning. A few code pink idiots with banners inside the hall but they were peaceful and were peacefully removed.

All in all, a good night.

A floor fight occurred earlier in the day performed by a group of never Trumpers but it quickly ended with a floor vote against them. This convention event was really over rated and amounted to nothing.
 
Night 2.

Donald Trump Jr. WOW .. JUST WOW. A tremendous conservative speech last night form this sibling. Some say today that the wrong Trump is running .. LOL. I wouldn't go that far but you can look for Donald to leave the private sector one day and enter politics for the GOP. Chris Christie delivered a fine speech. Christie is a fighter and I was hoping Trump would pick him for VP. He does not like the Clintons.

A note: After Melania Trump delivered a fine speech on night one, all the media wanted to do was whine about her stealing lines form the media high priestess herself, who has never received an ounce of scrutiny from the media because she's black and a lefty, the high and exuberant one herself, Michelle Obama. This is nothing but a diversion and typical of the Obama - Hillary loving media.

Look for the media to launch an all out campaign to destroy Melania in the coming weeks.

Last night, Ted Cruz committed political suicide and got booed off the stage during and after his self serving speech while he refused to give Donald Trump an endorsement. This man will never be president of these United States nor will he ever serve as a justice on the US supreme court. He is political toast and is nothing but a political opportunist.

Cruz is in Kasich territory now. The two belong together as self serving opportunists who will never be qualified for the White house.
 
Tonight the man makes his acceptance speech. Too bad last night was stolen by Cruz away from Pence.

Cruz is hoping Trump gets crushed by Hillary so he can be vindicated and be president in four or eight years. But if Trump loses close, Cruz will get the blame from the entire republican establishment and his political career will be up in smoke.
 
im not too miffed about the cruz thing. My expectations for him were low to begin with.

I am surprised at the relative lack of protest. I think the DNC will have a lot more protests this year.
 
Trump was magnificent .. just magnificent. His long speech last night covered every one of his conservative positions. The crowd stood and cheered throughout.

Never again will the middle class go unrepresented by a political party in this country. We have taken the entire political class by the arms and shook it until it's brains rattled. We have transformed the republican party into accepting the working middle class as a viable force that must be represented.

Never mind if Trump loses to Hillary close in November. The workers of the middle class have challenged the globalists and never again will the globalists dominate and control us. We are against the big corporations, the media, and the big donors and we have a political party now, thanks to Trump, who will continue to give us a voice against those forces.

Cruz is damaged goods. it will take him years to shake his selfish image as a me first, country second opportunist. Good reddens to him.
