A number of my friends mock me for not being a fan of sushi. Screw them, this just shows I've been P.C. all along.

Lena Dunham supports that sushi is cultural appropriation

The Girls creator said she agreed with students at her old college’s protests against the use of Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine in their dining halls

Lena Dunham has spoken out in support of her old college, where students are protesting the use of “culturally appropriated food” like sushi in its dining halls.

The Girls creator graduated from Oberlin College, a small liberal arts school, in 2008. In a recent interview with Food & Wine magazine, Dunham called out the “insensitive” use of Japanese food in her alma mater’s canteens.

“There are now big conversations at Oberlin, where I went to college, about cultural appropriation and whether the dining hall sushi and banh mi disrespect certain cuisines.
The press reported it as, ‘How crazy are Oberlin kids?’ But to me, it was actually, ‘Right on,’” Dunham said.

Students at the Ohio-based University began protesting in November about the cuisine served to them, which was sarcastically mocked by the New York Post at the time as "gastronomically correct". College residents – some international students – pointed to the inauthentic use of food, where sushi rice was undercooked and facets of Vietnamese and Japanese foodstuffs were made in a “disrespectful” manner.

Clover Lihn Tran wrote in The Oberlin Review that Bon Appétit, the food service vendor, “has a history of blurring the line between culinary diversity and cultural appropriation by modifying the recipes without respect for certain Asian countries’ cuisines. This uninformed representation of cultural dishes has been noted by a multitude of students, many of who have expressed concern over the gross manipulation of traditional recipes.”

respect the rice..it's the correct thing to do

Solid proof that liberalism is a MENTAL ILLNESS.....

These idiots need help....free room and board in a mental hospital

It is proof of how easy millennials have had it and what worthless wastes of sperm they are. It also shows how badly college education has devolved. The fuckers can't add two plus two but they sure know how to wield a protest sign

Hell most sushi chefs are actually Chinese. No one gives a shit about it.

Basically all ethnic dishes in the US are bastardized versions of the native dish. Things change when they move from place to place. American pizza is significantly different from Italian pizza. General Tsao's chicken and chop suey were actually invented in America by Chinese Americans to fit American tastes.

The Vietnamese took banh mi from the French in the first place.

There is nothing like "red eyed gravy", "cat head biscuits" and freshly cut pork with some good ole fashioned "COW BUTTER" and "Sorghum molasses" on the side for desert. You can never say that you have been totally satisfied with a meal until you can hear your arteries hardening.

I laugh at the Government....it suggests a balanced meal contains the same food stuffs that is required by all HOG FARMERS...a hog lot diet. Veggies and Grains is all that a HOG EATS.....and it sure is "thinning"...no? Look to nature...the thinnest, fastest, most powerful animals are always.....meat eaters. I am sure there is a fine balance for any natural species that is created to be an Omnivore. I especially become angered by animal owners that say they care about their pets....and attempt to convert them to vegans. Talk about sick kitty's and puppies.

uh, dude.....they're the thinnest because they have to spend all day chasing their food instead of standing knee deep in grass all day without moving a step.......

They must be using that fake crab shit in their California rolls. I'd protest too.
