We/west has been destabilizing the area for much longer than Arab Spring..

Removing the secular leaders opened the gates to hell & their 72 virgins.. In the vacuum they turn to the religious fanatics, many of which us/west helped create..

Hey, I've started quite a few threads here criticizing Obama, his foreign policy & his military actions. I didn't vote for him in '12. I'm not beholden to him.

But if you think this example is AT ALL comparable to telling our brave soldiers to hunt & kill the families of terrorists, you're positively mesmerized by Trump. There is nothing he can say that you will not defend & exalt.
 
going after terrorists families ( deliberately, and for no other reason ) is wrong/ineffective/war crime.
You can't do it. you shouldn't do it./ it's a barbarism.

This came about because of the san Bernandino shooting -
where the mother living with the couple of terrorists said she had no knowledge it was a bomb factory.

You can go after her on a conspiracy charge -but not killing. Enemy combatants are different then killing family members
if they are a direct threat, then you go after them; other wise charge them with crimes, or nothing at all

Doing so has a long history & is practiced in many countries, including some of our friends..

The shah & sadaam both used it quite extensively~~~ well, you see where they are now...:whome:

we like to think of ourselves as above such activities.
We just quietly (CIA) assassinate them - not airing our dirty laundry in public.

Spare the hyperbole.

I showed where Obama *targeted* a 16 year old Muslim and you slough it off because he's Obama and not Trump. Obama doesn't verbally advocate going after families members but he will because he has. Why would he do that, btw? Besides the fact he's Obama and can get away with it, it sends the same sort of message to terrorists that a Putin would send.

I'm not saying I advocate it. But it goes on. Trump being Trump, he just comes out in the open with it. He should get points for transparency lol. But he's not going to use the military pull terrorists families from their homes at night. What he will do, is ignore their human shield tactic and target the terrorists even if it means killing their families.

That's what Trump meant by not fighting a politically correct war.

I guess the "tough guy" killing doesn't work.

It didn't work for O-BOMB-YA, and it wouldn't work for Trump - but you're all for it because you're so scared.

True... Even Reagan (who did much to ensure this kinda barbarism was not practiced by us or others) was against this kinda torture.. I can not think of any AMerican president that would condone or endorse this, even Jackson.........

Lincoln & Churchill, even in their darkest hours condemned it.. I can see uncle sam & Regan backhanding bush the lesser, dick the dick & the gang as well as military prep school trump to the floor....

IMHO obama was wrong, & if the trump does it he is wrong as well, 3+ wrongs won't make a right...

Trump's rants are to be taken as such -if you want to see his ideas.
I realize you aren't interested -i'm still looking being as 3rd party is unsatisfying, and Hillary a No Go.

This is a bad idea all over however; waterboarding ain't gonna happen, and it's not effective anyhow.

The collateral damage would be minimized if they cut out the freaking Signature Strikes -
and put drone warfare under a military command instead of the CIA.
I wonder if they still got that presidential "kill list?" - I would think they do.

This first came up in an interview on Fox and Friends where someone asked Trump about collateral damage. So his initial statement [which the media dutifully hyped up and ran away with] about 'targeting families' was in the context of collateral damage and human shields.

I totally disagree with hunting down terrorists families KGB style and torturing them like they do in Chechnya. But that's anti-Trump tinfoil hat stuff that's not going to happen.

But if the terrorists are going to use their families for human sheilds---that's different. I'm willing to entertain that idea and I suspect a pretty broad swath of the electorate would as well.
