Jeremy Corbyn is facing a full-blown Labour coup after a slew of shadow cabinet members quit saying he is not up to the job. A coordinated mutiny has been launched against the leader after he sacked shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn in the early hours of this morning for plotting. Heidi Alexander quit the Shadow Cabinet within hours, saying Mr Corbyn lacked the 'capability' to lead the party. She was soon followed by equalities spokeswoman Gloria de Piero, Scottish secretary Ian Murray - Labour's only MP north of the border. Shadow education secretary Lucy Powell, shadow transport secretary Lilian Greenwood and shadow environment secretary Kerry McCarthy have also resigned. Angela Eagle, her sister Maria, Chris Bryant, and Jon Ashworth are expected to declare their departures later.
Hilary Benn laid into Jeremy Corbyn in an appearance on the BBC's Andrew Marr show this morning, insisting he was 'not a leader'. He also said he had shown 'little enthusiasm' during the EU campaign
