My charter membership card is still in my wallet, unlike George. My guess is that you have that in common with him. What you do not have in common with him, is that he can look himself in the mirror and see an honest, decent, conservative man. Evil, vile, contemptuous men got Douchebag Donald nominated, and you stand among them.
Ironic questions from someone who has already chosen to turn his back on the GOP because Trump has been nominated.......will you come back and vote for the nominee of the party you claim is the one from whence you came?......or are you content to hand the country to Hillary because you're scared the country will be handed to Hillary?.......1) What if Trump is elected, and chooses not to keep any of his promises to you? Do you abandon him, or continue supporting him?
2) What if Trump loses the election? Will you stay active within the GOP, or return to whence you came?
It is my conservatism, not my brand. Please just stop pretending that you and the Trump movement are conservatism. He is a recently open leftist Democrat, and I have no doubt that you spent most of your life in that party before he announced his candidacy. In fact, you also know that Donald is merely feigning GOP sympathies to invent his current campaign - it is merely your hope that he will keep certain promises which leads you to be on board.
I have two questions for you:
1) What if Trump is elected, and chooses not to keep any of his promises to you? Do you abandon him, or continue supporting him?
2) What if Trump loses the election? Will you stay active within the GOP, or return to whence you came?
There's other questions I could ask, but they are unusual situational topics. One of them, is how would you react, post-convention, if Trump came out and professed support to Hillary, and stated that he only ran his campaign to support his friends?
^ Trump the pragmatist? That's his message below the rhetoric that everyone focuses on.
We know Clinton is dangerous by her record ( despite her soft sale). So what to do?
Butt at least that is how I see the choices.

Anyway, here's some more feels for you Remain folks to cry over.
Some things shouldn't be put up for a referendum. Even though Truman used an executive order to end segregation in the military, 95% of armed forces previously voted to keep it.
I'd drop him like a hot potato yet still take comfort in the fact we were spared Hillary and Obama 3.0. But how would it benefit Trump to break his promises? If Trump is in it for Trump, why would he do that? If he's an egomaniac, wouldn't it make more sense for Trump to be the greatest president ever?
One thing Trump's republican critics consistently miss about him is that Trump's not an ideologue: he has no ideological mission. He doesn't think government is a means to bring about a socialist Utopia; neither does he think it should be used to spread democracy to other parts of the world. In fact, he would arguably be too isolationist as president.
But maybe we can stand a little isolationism.
Conservatives like George Will will take their ball and go home, but in the long run the GOP isn't going anywhere and it isn't going to morph into, whatever it is that constitutes their nightmares lol. What it has the chance to do is broaden. And it can broaden without abandoning the core principles of smaller government and etc. We just need to keep Trump pointed in the right direction.
You can do that with non-ideologues.
If he governs as the leftist he has always been, then the GOP is officially a leftist party.
1. then we abandon him as well. Trump is not important. He is merely the figurehead for nationalism and returning our country from the brink of globalism.
2. If trump loses. Well honestly the cause has gained so much in the past year from anti illegal immigration being mainstream again, protectionism being an issue, our interventionist foreign policy being in question, and most importantly brexit that it might be ok.
will we continue being republicans? Consider that your brand of republican failures are pro free trade, willing to give amnesty to illegal immigrants and pro intervention probably not. If the next nationalistic candidate appears in the democrat camp unlikely as that may be then we will support that party.
Is it possible like you assert that trump is 100% lying? Yeah. But like eugene debs said I would rather vote for something I want and not get it rather than vote for something I dont want and get it.
It still doesnt change the fact that your republicans have proven to be nothing more than utter failure at containing globalist progressivism.
lol.....and how did I get Donald nominated, oh Disqualified Soothsayer.......
Trump would do it for the LULZ and controversy, knowing that he accomplished his branding mission to become president, and that, as an incumbent, he would still stand a chance of being re-elected. Especially if he winds-up not being the scary rightist that leftists currently see him as.
Trump stated in an interview prior to the NY primary that the top three roles of government for him are Defense, Healthcare, and Education, so he is rather fond of government.
George Will can't make the GOP do anything, but it's presidential nominee (and president) can. Whatever Trump becomes is what the GOP is. If he governs as the leftist he has always been, then the GOP is officially a leftist party. Secretly, I'm sure that's what you've always wanted ever since you think you saw the Democratic Party of JFK slipping away, and decided to join the GOP.
until another election comes along and the GOP "officially" becomes something else......in the meantime, you're content to hand the country over to Hillary because you're afraid the country will turn into a country led by somebody like Hillary......
If trump just wanted to build his brand the very best thing he could have done was stay out of the race sign up for another season of apprentice and just purchase hillary again for the next 8 years. The common theme about trumps policies is nationalism which is why it doesnt fit into your left right spectrum.
George Will , Romney, Mccain, and the Bushes are all failures at stopping globalist progressivsim.
1. I don't believe you Trumptards will ever abandon him. You have made excuses for his leftist history, right up to the day he declared his candidacy (and even visibly past it). You have made excuses for his many stupid tactics, such as being racist toward Judge Curiel. I don't see your defense of him ever wavering.
2. Debs was speaking about men he could be reasonably sure stood for something. Not getting the goods was a matter of not trying hard enough - not being deceived. Beyond that, free trade is good, and the only reasonable course in a country that claims to believe in freedom. Nationalism is great if you are German, and it's 1932. It doesn't have any relevance in a country built on patriotism.
What's the difference between Hillary and Donald. He endorsed both her for Senate and President, and he endorsed Rahm in Chicago. He once stated that she was probably the best Secretary of State we've had. Do you just not like her name, or something?
Yeah any distinction between nationalism and patriotism are purely artificial. It means doing the best for you country first and not the others. We make excuases for him because he is still pushing the nationalist agenda.
If he were to suddenly say he would sign the TPP and make sure we outsource everything like your version of the GOP then we would abandon him. Just as we abandoned your failure of a GOP.
No, you would say he is just striking a deal, and that he is working to get something better in exchange.
