England secedes from EU. Why couldn't the South secede in 1861?

Secession is common. The original 13 colonies seceded from england in 1776. Was that bad? In the second half of the 20th century, most african states seceded from the european powers they had been part of.

Why does the press always say the Confederacy was a mass of traitors because they tried to secede?

There are actually mechanisms in place for the UK to leave the EU. Those are, nor were they in place for US states.

Dumb thread.

Southerners are racist retards who failed to kill enough loyal Americans to succeed.

They were the ISIS of America.

Not necessarily bad, it completely depends on your perspective. The Americans were traitors to England in the revolution. The Southerners were traitors to America in the Civil War.

Its defined by the winner only because the Confedracy does not exist, but if it did and someone took up arms against them, they would be traitors.

England is a traitor to the EU, its just not as pronounced because there wont (likely) be violence.

They didn't secede, seeing as how they were not legally a part of anything. There were no Acts of Union between America and Great Britain the way there are between Scotland and England.

Well whatever you call it, they would have been hanged if they had lost.
