EU Brexit referendum: France's Calais seeks border deal changes

The mayor of Calais wants changes to a deal which allows Britain to carry out immigration checks on the French side of the English Channel, after a UK vote to leave the EU.

Natacha Bouchart said Paris must act after Wednesday's referendum in which the UK voted to leave the EU.

"The British must take the consequences of their choice," she said on Friday.

Under the 2003 Touquet deal, Britain can carry out check in Calais to stop migrants trying to get to Britain.

Ms Bouchart said: "We are in a strong position to push, to press this request for a review and we are asking the President (Francois Hollande) to bring his weight (to the issue).

"We must put everything on the table and there must be an element of division, of sharing."

Meanwhile, Xavier Bertrand, the president of Hauts-de-France region where Calais is located, said: "The English wanted to take back their freedom: they must take back their border."

Poor Canute will have to stump up with his devalued pounds for French bubbly to toast the Tories, Britain First and UKIP, or swill disgusting English plonk as he toasts Farage and Boris.

I guess if the Syrians were bombing their homes from jets, conservatives wouldn't be angry about it or want to hit back any way they could.
 
This British exit is not as dramatic as you fuckers are all making it out to be. There will still be huge agreements between Briton and the EU, they will be trade agreements, immigration agreements, financial agreements, guest worker agreements. Its not going to be a huge difference than it has been for over 100 years.

Aren't all agreements under the EU which means everything has to be renegotiated? I have read Britain is a lot more vulnerable than the voters realized. Everything negotiated under the EU is null and void if you leave. This is going to be a very expensive decision for the Brits. You may recover, but it won't be for many years. I'm guessing 8-10 if you leave.
