EU referendum: UK 'must not delay leaving'

I think JK Rowling summed this up.

"Brexiteers like the cheating man shocked he can't stay in the spare room for 2 years while he sorts himself out."

if the prenup said two years then it should be two years otherwise why have a prenup?

The tenth amendment says nothing about individuals. And it's worded such that it basically has no relevant legal effect anyway. All it says is that the federal government has the powers that it has, which was already the case upon passing the constitution. As well, the constitution sets up a system in which sovereignty is shared between states and the federal government. No sovereignty at all belongs to individuals. Individuals are by definition not sovereign in a civilized society. Sovereignty means that you can do whatever you want, and the only restrictions on your behavior are diplomacy and war.
you utterly miss the text (which is not surprising)
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Sovergnty does mean exactly what you wrote -you can do what you want subject to law ( not diplomacy and war).

an individual American can live with self determination subject to the laws of the land. That was the big debate about Obamacare
when SCOTUS upheld that Congress cannot mandate individual economic activity.
The mandate was upheld as a tax (enumerated powers) without infringing on the individuals right of self determination ( sovereignty).

The balance of powers under the US Constitution are co-sovereignty. Whereas all non-enumerated (or powers flowing from SCOTUS interpretation)
are reserved to the states and the people

Sovereign entities are by definition not bound by law. Law is the method of dealing with conflicts between non-sovereign entities. War and diplomacy are the methods of dealing with conflicts between sovereign ones. If you are bound by a law, whoever is issuing the law is the sovereign, not you.

you're missing co-sovereignty. where the individual delegates thru agreed upon government which powers
are superior to his own individual.
That's the basis of the Constituition ( "We the people in order to form a more perfect union") is a delegation.
All OTHER powers are reserved to the state and individual -again meaning anything not delegated as an enumerated power is reserved respectively.

This is important because it limits the power of the collective, and the tendency to over-regulate/over-reach.
It's why the balance of powers works under federalism too,

You are giving me simplistic definitions of a sovereign state -without the benefit of the power sharing relationship (co-sovereignty);
which is a typical Marxist tendency

Trump is out there saying that American voters will have a chance to do the same thing come November.

His campaign has to be losing it.
He is happy about the pound, says it will help his golf courses in Scotland! This man has no soul!

Article 50 should be triggered immediately. 2 years to negotiate your future, all 27 member states (who are quite rightly pissed off at you) have to agree to the terms in that time or you get nothing and are treated like a random African country. This is the path you have chosen, Britain.

Seriously, why do you even care? That truly baffles me.

I keep reading this is only the beginning of the exits. and not to make too much of it from an American perspective -
but in general it's not so much economics driving this as the feeling of being ruled by remote bureaucrats.

Freedom is a catchy idea.. self sovereignty is the natural state of mankind (etc.)

But i'm not getting any real desire to stay in, more fear and loathing of what happens if the states leave.

Funny how so many Americans bang on about freedom for themselves yet not for others.

Did you start bellyaching when the pound reached nearly two dollars a while back? A lower pound will help exports and lessen imports, it's all good. Except of course when I go abroad!

I think his buffoonish reactions to this on television this morning, when he turned this into a sales pitch for his resort, will hurt him. The man is a clown.

God I am so loving this. The lefties on this board really thought REMAIN was going to win. I bathe in their tears of anguish. They don't care about Britain. They fear this spreading and ruining their dreams of a global country led by the UN with no borders
