Why would he do that? He was one of the few principled people in the Bush admin who warned that a war would turn the Middle East into a cauldron. I don't recall Her Royal Crookedness taking a similar measured view.

Dubya would have been immeasurably better if he had brought Scowcroft into his administration, and not had the neocons running the show.
He said that Trumps unstable personality greatly concerns him.

Yeah, Brent was pissed about Iraq. Unsurprisingly, he views Trump as being equally misguided as the neocons, and potentially more dangerous. I guess that Trump's open denunciation of neocon foreign policy, Iraq, and Dubya, hasn't reassured Brent any.

I get him being against Trump, I don't understand him endorsing Hillary. She voted for the war and is a foreign policy hawk. How does that fit with him?
My take on it is that Scowcroft is so concerned about Trumps personality that he is willing to overlook her vote on the war, which she admits was a mistake.

Give me a break, if Trump gave one of his wives a black eye, you'd be screaming that he ought to be locked up. Yet she clobbered Bill and you say nothing, pathetic doesn't even come close. Cheney didn't have a neocon track record pre-VP, and Bush's campaign rhetoric was non-interventionist. It's generally believed that Cheney converted on 9/11, and that without men like Scowcroft to counter Wolfowitz, Bremer, and Rumsfeld, they dragged Bush along. During the Bush Sr. era, Scowcroft and Powell had the president's ear, and kept him committed to a realist foreign policy. Wolfowitz and Bremer were junior members who had no influence.
