Toddler eaten by Disney Gator

they are "ambush predators"
a 2 year old is the right size snack..given she was in the right place shallow water.
the water was murky ,it was a perfect storm of circumstances

It's not the right size for a three footer. They don't usually eat anything bigger than a large frog or small fish at that age. I have never heard of an attack from a gator that size and if there have been, then the victim probably put their hand/arm inside the gators mouth. TD is right.

it's not so much the prey, as the conditions. small animal splashing at the waterline at dusk in muddy waters.
It's not common, nd Disney never had problems for as far back as I can remember.
But just as Floridians know not to walk their dogs on river banks ( etc) Disney should have been more emphatic.
I do not know about the "putting the hand in the mouth"i t could just as well been an ambush attack that gators will do.

sure. but there should be some kina periodic removals? Maybe there was..
The video of feeding the gators was bad too. from what I understand there are signs "not to feed the wildlife" in the hotels'
but amore stern warning for feeding and wading would have helped.

Shanghai Disney just opened, and the company has been cash starved -this isn't going to help

I would expect that they were removing the larger ones. If not then they are definitely negligent.

IDK, what you are referring to with the video about feeding. I avoided reading about this story as it is very disturbing.

I did find this... Disney keeps looking worse and worse.

In Thailand, a woman jumped in to a croc pit. It's rumored that she was depressed after Tom went back to the UK without her.

I am not sure either. there were 5 gators removed from that lagoon,
and I saw a story last night about a father who claimed he saw a 7 footer coming at his kid last year, and told the staff, and the staff made lite of it..

It's basic common sense to stay away from water that isn't controlled -but people from Nebraska wouldn't know that.
I'm on a drainage canal and the place has gators traveling thru all the time

It's also basic common sense for a theme park not to put beach chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas around a lake of prehistoric predators.

I'm pretty safety conscious and it would never have occurred to me there could be in alligators inside a marked recreational pond inside a Disney theme park.

You lack the advanced situational awareness tactical skills of ex-Marine SmarterthanFew.

I know this may sound kind of sick....but wouldn't it have been ironic if instead of this innocent two year old child the gator ate a member of PETA?
