It might be of interest to note that SWITZERLAND is not shown on this list, because it has...NO MURDER OCCURRENCE!
I find this interesting, and asked my friend in Lausanne to tell me if it’s true.
However, SWITZERLAND 'S law requires that EVERYONE:
1. Own a gun.
2. Maintain Marksman qualifications ... regularly.
(Switzerland provides every citizen with 250 rounds of ammo yearly. 100 of that is used in yearly government MANDATORY Marksman qualifying, for EVERYONE over the age of 10.)



Is there something to be learned from this??
I think the message is - loud and clear...

I call bullshit. Your post that you happened to get from a "friend" is just so much echo chamber NRA crap.

Switzerland's laws do not require everyone to own a gun, maintain marksman qualifications, nor do they provide any ammo, whatsoever. In fact, they require mandatory background checks on civilian handgun purchases, and require licenses for the concealed carry of weapons, and they ban automatic weapons. Switzerland does have a low murder occurrence, but it is neither zero, nor the lowest in the world. It is 0.6 deaths per 100,000 population. To say that the low death rate is wholly dependent on a high gun ownership rate (although lower gun ownership rates than the US and Yemen) is totally misleading. Japan and Singapore have very tough gun regulations and have a lower murder rate than Switzerland, as well as Iceland and Luxembourg.

All most every single country listed does NOT have a 100% gun ban, including Honduras. The most popular legally owned gun in Honduras is the 9mm handgun. As opposed to Switzerland, Honduras has rampant corruption and drug gangs. The gross domestic product per capita is $2,435 in Honduras and $84,733 in Switzerland. Comparing these two countries as if gun ownership is the entire reason between a high and a low murder rate is absurd.

Switzerland has an intriguing and admirable gun policy. That said, the average Swiss is more responsible and dependable than the average American. There are also substantially fewer things for the populace to have conflict over.
