ISIS-inspired attacker kills French police officer and streams it on Facebook

France’s president called Tuesday for increased security in a nation already on high alert after an apparent Islamic State-inspired attacker fatally stabbed a couple with police ties and recorded a message before he was killed by police.

Authorities took three additional suspects into custody and said the assailant had a list of names for possible further attacks, including journalists and public officials. The names have not been made public.

President François Hollande described the killings of the couple — police Capt. Jean-Baptiste Salvaing, 42, and his partner, Jessica Schneider, 36, identified as an administrative secretary at a police department outside Paris — as "undeniably a terrorist attack" and said that "France is confronted by an extremely high terrorist threat."

The couple's 3-year-old son was present during the attack in their home but was apparently unharmed. The attacker, identified as Larossi Abballa, 25, apparently posted a video message to a Facebook account before he was killed in a police raid on the couple’s home in Magnanville, about 30 miles northwest of Paris, officials said.

Even as the details were emerging on Sunday, Michael Oren, the former Israeli ambassador to the US and now a member of Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, was advising presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on how to exploit the tragedy for political gain.

“If I was Donald Trump, I would have come out the minute that the FBI started to indicate this morning that we are talking about a guy who was operating from Islamic motivations,” Oren told Israeli television. “Just his name alone … a Muslim name, the son of Afghan immigrants who apparently maintained connections of some sort to extremist Islamic organizations, that in itself will greatly influence the presidential race.”

Trump needed no such advice and quickly seized on the killings to renew his calls for a blanket ban on Muslims entering the United States.

I personally know people who believe this will happen here, and have believed it for a long time. I guess ISIL released a statement a while ago, or a video, trying to incite these "lone wolves" or true believers, to strike "the non believer" everywhere, including in their homes. I mean if you sit around looking at these videos or reading these lunatic statements, I guess you get pretty afraid. I know people probably won't believe this, but where I live the HOA put up these corn stalks on street lamps for Halloween, and one man complained, literally claiming that "ISIS" could hide behind them. And that's only one insanity I have personal knowledge of. Another guy leaves his home very early in the morning and it's still dark during certain months, and he personally told me his head is "on a pivot" walking to his car, because ISIS could be in a van waiting to grab any American and behead them. It was a surreal conversation.

Really if ISIS wants to destroy the country, they don't need these mass shootings. Americans are partially immune to mass shootings, or used to them. I mean, we decided it was okay to slaughter 6 year olds in their classrooms and do nothing. That's not where we live. It's not where our real fear lives. Our real primal fear lives in our homes. They break into a couple of homes and kill a couple of families, drag a few, maybe all that's needed is one, American from a mall, a gas station, wherever, and behead them on Youtube and then it's over. I know what would happen. I would pack it in. Democracy as we know it would cease to exist. Trump (or any other authoritarian demagogue, doesn't have to be Trump) would win and would have the backing of a strong majority of the American people. I would envision interment camps and much much more. Certainly a ban on Muslim immigrants. The question would be, what would we do with the Muslims born here?

If I have any fear, this is it. Sometimes I wonder if it's just a matter of time. I'm not mentally unprepared for this though. I would just give up, batten down the hatches, and live the rest of my life. There'd be no point fighting at that time. I'm too old for that, I'll leave any fighting to the Berners who are all supposed to be passionately leftist American loving college students, strong, young, brave, full of energy for "revolution". Of course, they'll be the first to put up the white flag. LOL

Of course the purity left would be on message boards and twitter, the extent of their "revolution" and pitchfork politics, claiming it had nothing to do with Islam, (oh they might hold a rally in a park and youtube the crowd to brag about size) and the right would be on the same message boards claiming all Muslims should be rounded up. They'd stock up on their assault rifles and then trick them out till they were even more deadly, start shooting anyone who "looks Muslim" (a lot of Sikhs would die). And it wouldn't be long before they started killing blacks, who will fight them, and of course a good many of the dumb fucks would shoot each other too, sometimes by accident but not always. And I would sit in front of my laptop shaking my head at all the simpletons, maybe in the best case scenario end up on some Island somewhere and finally get some f'ing peace. Maybe not.

Anyway, I feel I truly am living in that most cursed of all things "interesting times".

The trend is towards the militarization of police forces, eroded privacy, xenophobia and more war.
One of the occupations which might provide the cash for your fortified hermitage is that of arms dealer. They've already taken the best sites though.
