How do we know he's an islamic extremist? He was born in NY. He's an American. His father claims in a statement that it doesn't have anything to do with religion, and that his son became enraged when he saw two men kissing in Miami. That may be true. It may not be. It may be the thing that most Americans can't handle - multiple motives. It could be he hated gays AND was becoming radicalized. I don't think the country can handle that. We need one motive, everything has to be black or white.

Bottom line is I don't think we know enough yet. What we do know is that 50 people are dead and 53 more are injured, some critically, and most likely the death toll will rise. It's the worst mass shooting in US history, and we aren't pikers so that's saying something. We know he used an assault rifle. We know he was able to obtain an assault rifle.

We know that our country lost its soul when it determined that a classroom full of slaughtered kindergartners should stand. When we did nothing in response.

Yes, whether that was inspired by enraged male anxiety or radical islamic fundamentalism, or a mixture of the two.

And he was able to get the same model assault rifle that is responsible for the slaughter of a classroom full of schoolchildren. Those children would have been 10 this year. They're still dead though. Not one law passed in response. That stain will never be washed. We asked for this. We got this. This is the America we have chosen. IMO.

A suspected Islamic extremist wielding an assault rifle and a handgun has killed about 20 people after taking party-goers hostage inside a gay nightclub in Orlando. The gunman was carrying a suspicious device, possibly a suicide vest, when he opened fire on the dance floor inside Pulse in the early hours of this morning.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina said authorities have not determined the exact number of people killed, but that 'approximately 20' have died. Another 42 people were taken to hospital.An FBI spokesman said the mass shooting is being investigated as an act of terrorism. He explained authorities are looking into whether this was an act of domestic or international terror, and if the shooter was a lone wolf.


Police said the gunman, who was shot dead, was believed to be in his 20s was not a local man, while the FBI believe he may have 'leanings to radical Islamic terrorism'. The killings took place less than four miles from where The Voice singer and YouTube star Christina Grimmie, 22, was shot dead at The Plaza Live in Orlando on Friday.
