Obama's IRS targeted almost 500 conservative groups

only the Washington Times is covering it as far as I can see. Even though this is about ABUSE OF POWER.
I'll leave it to the reader to ascertain why this is.

Because the WT is a shitty Conservative rag with no purpose but to follow dead ends and make insinuations that have no basis in reality.

The government released names of 426 organizations. Another 40 were not released as part of the list because they had already opted out of being part of the class-action suit.

That total is much higher than the 298 groups the IRS‘ inspector general identified back in May 2013, when investigators first revealed the agency had been subjecting applications to long — potentially illegal — delays, and forcing them to answer intrusive questions about their activities. Tea party and conservative groups said they was the target of unusually heavy investigations and longer delays,

Edward D. Greim, the lawyer who’s pursuing the case on behalf of NorCal Tea Party Patriots and other members of the class, said the list also could have ballooned toward the end of the targeting as the IRS, once it knew it was being investigated, snagged more liberal groups in its operations to try to soften perceptions of political bias.

You have some evidence that all of these Groups were Conservative in nature?

In a word...

No.

Hell, I heard a news report on the radio the other day that claims a number of groups have LIBERAL ties.

But you won't hear that from the WT.

they were targeted by key words. "Tea "Liberty" "freedom" I know for sure..
that means the groups that typically use those name are conservative.

were they all actually conservative? It doesn't matter. it is the TARGETING itself that is the ABUSE of POWER.

My only wish is that this selective targeting had been true. I would have loved it if Obama had squeezed you motherfuckers until you all squeaked like Yurt...and then squeezed you some more.

It is true and the IRS admitted it and gave the list. Are being stupid or lying?

They are alowed to target neutral words, its how the the algorithm works. The problem was that the word "TEA" was clearly not neutral, words such as "freedom" and "Liberty" are. Conservatives dont own freedom or liberty.

What law was broken?

harassment and intimidation by political use of the IRS..it's basically using a search engine to create an enemies list.

If, in fact, IRS personnel engaged in the kind of practices that have been reported on and were intentionally targeting conservative groups, then that is outrageous, and there is no place for it, and they have to be held fully accountable, because the IRS as an independent agency requires absolute integrity and people have to have confidence that they are applying the laws in a nonpartisan way. You should feel that way regardless of party. Obama

here is a more precise answer.
And of course no group "owns" that -but if they willingly used criteria were biased for searching..well you're a lawyer.
IRS staffers began flagging applications from groups with politically themed names like "We the People" and "Take Back the Country." Staffers also targeted groups whose names included the words "tea party" and "patriots." Those flagged applications were then sent to specialists for a more rigorous review than is typical.

The IRS gave extra scrutiny to 298 groups applying for tax-exempt status, the Washington Post reported. Seventy-two of those groups had "tea party" in their title, 13 had "patriots," and 11 had "9/12," shorthand for the 9/12 movement started by conservative TV host Glenn Beck.
