A New Memorial Day Tradition — Burning The Confederate Flag

I saw no flags out on my block.. I see less and less each year.. I hung one off my mailbox.
Not proper etiquette but there it is until dark.

Sadly your lefty kin were more about vandalizing memorial displays. But dishonoring the 600k who died in Lincoln's pointless war is fun too.

The confederate flag in 2016 is not about history, it's not about remembering the dead of the civil war and it's not about respect in any shape, form or fashion. It's about racism and what some wish a freedom to return to in the area of slavery and pure unadulterated power over other humans.

As a symbol of remembrance, I don't want to remember the Confederate dead. They got what they deserved, and the CSA was a shitty country.

Well said.

There was far more to the civil war than you guys have chosen to focus upon. It's really quite dismal to see Americans denigrating Americana.

Virgil Caine is the name, and I served on the Danville train
'Till Stoneman's cavalry came and tore up the tracks again
In the winter of '65, we were hungry, just barely alive
By May the tenth, Richmond had fell, it's a time I remember, oh so well

The night they drove old Dixie down, and the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down, and the people were singin' they went
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

Back with my wife in Tennessee, when one day she called to me
"Virgil, quick, come see, there goes Robert E Lee"
Now I don't mind choppin' wood, and I don't care if the money's no good
Ya take what ya need and ya leave the rest,
But they should never have taken the very best

The night they drove old Dixie down,

Like my father before me, I will work the land
Like my brother above me, who took a rebel stand
He was just eighteen, proud and brave, but a Yankee laid him in his grave
I swear by the mud below my feet,
You can't raise a Caine back up when he's in defeat

The night they drove old Dixie down,

I'll defend the flag of the United States of America until my death. I have no such connection to the battle rag of the traitorous confederates.

Sorry, moonie. There are glorious songs and misguided memorabilia about the civil war and all of it's meanings. But,,,,,,,,,,we all know what it represented and what it led to 100 years later. I'll never forget the Civil Rights Act or the Voting Rights Act. Both were long overdue remnants from what should have been done during reconstruction. But carpetbaggers and politics were just to powerful then as they continue to be in these respects.

I wouldn't defend ANY flag to the death. I'm not stoopid. They are symbols- and it's not even clear to most people what they are symbolic of.

Who would die for Trump or Billary ? Are they all crazy ?

it's the mindless fashion to over-react and act like the war is still going on..It's only a matter of time before monuments are razed in some weird attempt to sanitize history.
It's remarkable to see such simplicity of thought..get to Gettysburg now before they go after those monuments too.
