Trump to debate sanders!

This is certainty against conventional wisdom for a campaign, but when is Dangerous Donald someone who goes with the rule book. My gut tells me it is a mistake for DD, but I've said that before and it worked out for him.

Sanders is the most respectable person in the race and DD is the least, it will be interesting if DD throws insults and barbs at Sanders or if he is capable of debating in a civil fashion.

I will absolutely be watching, its going to be interesting.

Look for a more congenial Trump. He's after Bernies people so it would no make sense to give him the Little Marco treatment.

What policies are you referring to?

And before we hear about Sander's BS plan on paying for his voting bribery.

Over on his campaign website Bernie Sanders has a page telling us all how his delightful bribes to the voters will get paid for. The usual populist politician’s trick of just shouting that it will be someone else, not you, no absolutely not you the special little voting snowflake, who will pay for all that you, that special little voting snowflake, are being promised. In Bernie’s case it will be “the rich” who pay for everything. And that’s what means that his taxation plans don’t add up. Simply because there’s not all that many rich people and collectively they don’t have all that much money.
Sure, it’s possible to get a bit more money from them. But at some point in the face of ever rising marginal tax rates, peoples’ behavior will change. There really is some tax rate at which point higher rates don’t produce more revenue, they produce less. And sadly Bernie’s sums don’t take account of this fact. Thus under the current taxation plans all these goodies will not be paid for at all. And this brings us to the essential truth that the European states have all worked out. If you want to bring Big Government to the middle classes then you’ve got to tax the middle classes to pay for Big Government. There just is no other way of raising that sort of amount of revenue.
Bernie’s taxation plan is here.
College for All: Sanders has proposed making public colleges and universities tuition-free and substantially reducing student debt, in a plan that would cost about $75 billion a year. Paid for by imposing a tax on Wall Street speculators that would generate about $300 billion in revenue.

As I’ve pointed out a number of times here (and please do note that my one and only peer reviewed paper is on this very point) that Wall Street speculation tax isn’t going to raise any revenue at all. In fact, it will lead to a loss of it as the European Union pointed out in their own report into an FTT. The problem is that such a speculation tax lowers the price of financial assets, that in turn means that capital is more expensive. More expensive capital means less investment and thus the future is poorer than it would be without such a speculation tax. And yes, that future is sufficiently poorer, for total tax revenues will be lower than they will be in the absence of such a tax.
This is, of course, just the Laffer Curve argument in a different wrapper. But the point about the Laffer Curve is that it is actually true. And different taxes have different revenue maximizing rates. With a transactions tax, that rate is so low that it might even be zero. With income taxes, that rate is much higher, as I pointed out yesterday. However, this poses a problem for other parts of Bernie’s plan:

Says the Master muckraker.

Tell us my irony impaired fellow, how many Hil bash threads did you make so far?
right on cue! another day of stupidity from Rune.

1.define "muckraking" and where I erroneously bashed HRClinton ?.. She's a freaking piñata of shitty politics/interventionism/corporatism.
..So little time..so many ways to legitimately cut her to pieces...

It's actually a transaction tax , not a "speculation tax" -Clinton has some Rube Goldberg contraption of %'s of this and that / gains etc.
It's truly a monstrosity that only a tax and spend Democrat could love.

Sanders is simple -it's a "transaction tax" designed to suck money out of program traders -and not punish gains per se'
