Hillary Clinton Refuses to Debate Bernie Sanders in California

Hillary Clinton is officially backing down from her promise to debate Bernie Sanders this month, declining to appear in a debate in California hosted by Fox News.

Both Clinton and Sanders agreed in February to have four additional debates. The agreement was struck ahead of the New Hampshire primary after Clinton lobbied for an unsanctioned Democratic debate in the first primary state. Sanders only agreed to the additional New Hampshire debate if Clinton and the Democratic National Committee agreed to four additional debates throughout the primary process

Hillary Clinton is about to plead the fifth and will not debate because the questions that she will not answer under oath will also come up in debates. This game is over and Hillary is about to have a bad headache and withdraw.

So, @HillaryClinton wants to "unify"/get @BernieSanders supporters 2 vote 4 her...refusing to keep word & debate him seems like great idea!

^ top tweet.

Senator Sanders said that opponent Hillary Clinton had agreed to a debate ahead of California, but that recently she has been ignoring the calls to meet up.

“In terms of the debates, for example, we’re still waiting–Secretary Clinton agreed way back when to do a debate in California in May. We are hoping that Democratic National Committee will ask her to keep her word and allow that debate to go forward.”

Bad move by Hillary. Part of the problem is Trump is dominating the news and debating Bernie would have gotten her some much needed face time. Also, the inevitable perception is that she's afraid to debate Bernie. The one time that Trumps numbers dropped, was when he passed on a debate.

And if she really is a superior candidate, what better way of showing it than in a one on one debate. Plus [I think someone already mentioned it] it's going to piss off Bernie's people.

And it's looking more and more like she's going to need every vote in November. This kind of surprises me because I always thought the Clintons were politically astute.

well written. it adds to her highness's perceived ( and real) dismissal of being a candidate of the people..
I was never going to vote for her -for reasons given by Bernie, as well as her failed Sec of State (Libya prime ex)
But I really don't want to go 3rd party again

Right now only 66% of the Bernie brothers (sic) support her

That's a significant bloc of Democrat voters. I get the idea you can throw out the old electoral map like everything else got thrown out. The only thing I'm sure of it will be interesting lol.

I wouldn't throw it out, but I wouldn't completely rely on it like we've been doing.
This might be the first time in my life I vote for a Republican -not that I am a big fan of Trump, it's that I despise Hillary
and have done the 3rd party thing..
I want something else but establishment politics , and Trump is that!

I think we should keep the electoral college. I meant the colored map everyone goes by. Break out the colored markers and redo it lol.

What are the particulars of this claimed refusal by her to debate Sanders in California? For whatever reason I don't think she has refused anything or withdrew her name from any consideration. Quit pissing down your legs.

This just in: Bernie will name 5 members of the 15-person Democratic Platform Committee, Hillary Clinton will name 6 members, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz will name 4. The platform will be presented at the party convention in July.

Since DNC rules allow the chair to pick the entire slate of 15, this is something of a concession to Bernie -- which may help overcome some of the divisiveness. But as a practical matter, since Wasserman Schultz and Hillary Clinton represent essentially the same interests, Bernie gets a third of the platform writing committee -- not enough to make the platform bigger or more ambitious than Clinton wants.

do your research. She agreed to 4 more debates in return for a NH debate.. they've only had 9 in total, even less then Clinton v. Obama

Clinton and Sanders, however, agreed in February to add four more debate to the calendar, including a debate in May. So far, the two candidates have had three of the four debates the agreed to, the last being in New York on CNN.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, head of the Democratic National Committee – who co-chaired Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign – hasn’t exactly been evenhanded in steering the Democratic National Committee this campaign season. For example: scheduling few primary debates and at times few people would be viewing, denying Bernie’s campaign future access to the party's 50-state voter file, responding to a data breach of the database by shutting down access to Bernie’s campaign, setting up a joint fundraising committee with the Clinton campaign, rejecting Bernie’s nominees to key convention committees, and naming strong Hillary supporters (and vocal anti-Bernie people) to chair those committees. ( and going after Bernie for Nevada with dead wrong complaints)

Wasserman Schultz is dividing the Democratic Party at a time when it needs a leader who will pull it together. Bernie said yesterday that if elected he wouldn’t reappoint her to head the DNC. It would be wise for Hillary Clinton to say the same thing. Best of all for Wasserman Schultz to resign.

When Obama refused to debate Hillary in California in 2008, she said it exposed him as a weak candidate and incompetent to hold the office.
