but it is..now some international flights want you there 3 hours early..that is a LONG TIME to stand in a line.

And how did this become the new normal anyways?

I flew to Maryland last year from Orlando ( 26 million visitors each year) and I was in line for 1 1/2 hours..
it's getting worse.

This whole thing started with the Patriot Act. I'm not sure what it would take to drop some of those restrictions.

The national news was showing three hour lines in Chicago. That's just crazy.

Nice....I was thinking the same thing.....The TSA has been going strong for 15 years....NTAS advisories – whether they be Alerts or Bulletins – encourage individuals to follow the guidance provided by state and local officials and to report suspicious activity. Where possible and applicable, NTAS advisories will include steps that individuals and communities can take to protect themselves from the threat as well as help detect or prevent an attack before it happens. Individuals should review the information contained in the Alert or Bulletin, and based upon the circumstances, take the recommended precautionary or preparedness measures for themselves and their families.

So the gov. sure has a constant fear of terrorism.....

Individuals obviously have little to no control of terrorists or terrorism so its quite normal we don't live in uncalled for 'fear'.....I don't live in abnormal fear of auto accidents either, but
that doesn't mean I drive recklessly or I am not aware to what other drivers are doing around me.....so Thingy's thread is more of red herring....ie, something that misleads or distracts from a relevant or important issue.

the White House that Obama had signed the USA Freedom Act came a few hours after the bill sailed through the Senate 67-32, following a protracted debate that lasted for weeks and forced some of the provisions to expire for nearly two days.

With Obama’s signature, three parts of the Patriot Act — including the controversial Section 215 — came back into force after expiring Monday morning.

Maybe Obama is too scared....

This is true. However, the US was far behind most of the world when it came to airport security.

What restrictions would you drop? I've flown all over the world and I can't see a single thing we should drop.
