Michigan City Attorney Accused Of Calling Rape Victim A ‘Whore’

So Mish behaved ethically....?

I guess verbally abusing girls in official emails is something you learned in law school...

one, it wasn't an official email, trollop....as the HuffPo article says, it was an email she sent to a private individual, commenting on a news article......guess you could say it wasn't classified at the time she sent it.......two, it wasn't abusing a girl.....it was ridiculing her mother who was trying to sue the city of Grand Rapids for the fact her daughter was a prostitute.......

I guess the inclusion of the mother's name and place of employment and the reference to "her daughter" escaped your astute legal mind...:rofl2:

since the mother's name was already on the lawsuit filed against the city of Grand Rapids, which had been dismissed by the federal court, only a slightly ignorant liberal would try to claim this email "disclosed" it.......

Uh huh.

An email sent to a private citizen from the public account of the Grand Rapids city attorney

The email written by Mish is also not being released because it gives identifying details about the court case involving the minor.

BTW liar, Acton won the suit.

one, she was not a client of the prosecuting attorney......two, the authorities had already concluded that she hadn't been raped and had instead, taken drugs in exchange for sex......three, the comment was actually made in connection with a law suit that the girl's parents had brought against the city seeking monetary damages because they had refused to prosecute......a federal judge had already dismissed the case......all this is spelled out in the HuffPo article you linked......

This is spelled out also. And I think it's pretty reprehensible to excoriate a child with the mental age of 9, who doesn't have the mental capacity to understand what's happening. That Mish creature sounds like a horrible human being.

"According to Hilton, her daughter, who was 16 years old in January 2012, got in trouble at Hope Academy of West Michigan and was allowed to leave before her parents could pick her up. It was while walking home from school that her daughter was given alcohol by a group of men and gang-raped, Hilton said.

“We ended up getting her back 48 hours later,” Hilton said. “She had been repeatedly and brutally sexually assaulted. She was taken to an emergency room, where they discovered she had sustained a lot of trauma. They removed a 2-inch bottle cap from her cervix.”

Hilton said the Grand Rapids Police Department was notified, and an officer questioned her daughter alone for about 20 minutes.

“He told me he thought she was lying,” Hilton said. “He said her story did not make any sense – that she was not sequencing events correctly. I said, ‘You do realize she is cognitively impaired and functions at about the level of a third-grader? On a good day she cannot sequence events correctly.’ He said there was nothing for them to investigate and that was it. My daughter was absolutely traumatized and was hospitalized for four and a half months in a state psychiatric hospital for children.”

What an ugly thing to say. You completely disregarded that the girl was mentally impaired. Shame on you.

perhaps, but we're talking about the Hilton case......read the HuffPo article, its all there.....
Hilton says her lawsuit against the school is still in litigation. The lawsuit against the city was recently dismissed by a federal judge — a move she believes he might reconsider in light of the newly discovered email.

“We are going to present it to the judge to see if we can get the lawsuit reinstated because it’s clear that if the city attorney felt this way about my daughter, they weren’t going to waste time investigating what happened to her,” Hilton said. “We have also filed a grievance against Mish with the board that oversees attorneys in the state of Michigan.”

the city considered that in reaching their decision not to prosecute the case......I will agree that its been disregarded......that doesn't make it my fault.....I'm not the city prosecuting attorney.....and actually, now that I have read more of the case, neither was Mish.......her position was on the civil staff of the city.....thus, she was involved in the defense of Hilton's case against the city but was not involved in the decision whether or not to prosecute the allegation of rape......

This isn't a political issue so I don't understand Pmp's rush to defend Mish. She was wrong, period.

you still haven't said what was wrong about what she said.......the girl was in fact prostituting herself for drugs......that is why they refused to prosecute anyone for rape.....the courts have already decided that the mother was wrong......that was why the judge dismissed the federal case against the city.......

Maybe you can stop by the Michigan bar and buy her a Bourbon. She likes Mish mash, I hear.

You really didn't read the email or the supporting documentation, did you?

apparently better than you......Hilton's case against the city of Grand Rapids had nothing to do with Acton......a party to the Acton law suit got the email following a Freedom of Information act filing and provided it to Hilton......that is the only connection......

still waiting for someone to explain why its wrong to call someone who exchanges sex for drugs a prostitute........

I'm waiting for you to explain why Mish calling her a crack whore makes it true and not just more blaming the victim.

Hilton, whose lawsuit against the city was recently dismissed, received a copy of Mish's email from the Michigan Capitol Confidential reporter who initially discovered it. She plans to use the message in a petition to have her case reinstated, because as she told the Huffington Post, "It's clear that if the city attorney felt this way about my daughter, they weren't going to waste time investigating what happened to her."

Unfortunately, that conclusion can be applied not just to Hilton's daughter, but to countless other survivors of sexual assault. Rape victims are routinely blamed for their attacks, while the perpetrators of sexual violence are absolved by the courts or even protected by their communities.

Despite false accusations of rape occurring at exceedingly low rates, survivors are often disbelieved by law enforcement officials, punished by their schools or shamed for their actions; sometimes they're even told that, legally speaking, their rapes weren't actually crimes. They might also have fingers pointed at them by their assailants, the media, politicians or members of the justice system, like Mish.

Comments like those of the city attorney might be rooted in a personal grudge, but they are also tied to a larger culture of blaming survivors for sexual violence instead of the people who actually commit it — or, to put it more concisely, of conflating the term "crime victim" with "crack and heroin whore." Mish's email didn't just send a message about a single rape survivor -- it epitomized the message our culture sends about all of them.
