Trump says there is no need to vote until the general election, and he is correct

This ought to tell everyone that our elective system is retarded..................My State's vote has no meaning, this is wrong.
 
Florida's primary had no local races, nor referendums, nothing but presidential preference. do other states have more on the ( primary)ballot?

Part of the problem is that it is different in every state which is wrong. Why should Iowa be different than Florida or California

well you are getting into the entire subject of electoral reform -but the short answer is the states run their own elections-even for president..
they can put any attachments on the presidential primary -but I am unaware of them

I'd much rather see rotating regional primaries -but even the primaries are controlled by the Democratic and Republican party..
Which is the real (IMHO) problem -since partisan rule is not necessarily Constitutional rule.

The entire mess is FUBAR (fucked up beyond all recognition)

Presidential elections should not be run by the state, their should be one rule that applies to all. The NJ Primaries never mean anything as the nominee is always chosen before NJ comes around, and having imbeciles run from the kitchen to bathroom to vote is mentally dysfunctional and when their is a tie and these dysfunctional people toss a coin to choose a candidate, this is actually illegal. It's sickening

take it up with the DNC or RNC...they set the schedule ,and they penalize states that do not conform..
The reasons states run their presidential primary elections though are because it corresponds to the electoral college,( each state is a separate election for 'electors') and also the principle of US federalism

The electoral college was invented when it took six months or more to send a letter to Europe and get a response. Now this takes what several seconds. The electoral college is outdated, immoral and illegal. All that is needed is the vote of the people, of which every one can be counted and recounted in under 5 seconds. There is just no need for morons to put on funny hats and jump up and down. Trump should be the nominee because more people voted for him, and if Sanders gets more votes than Cliton her stupider delegates should not be able to stand in the way of the choice of the people. well I agree with you on electoral reform at least..the electoral college actually reduces campaigning in non-battleground states.
I'm sure that's evident without an explanation.
My jihad is the MS parties are also culpable for "base elections" which means the candidate pander to the extremes of each party.
The extremist are one's unwilling to compromise on "party purity" -which then infects actual governing.
The base election strategy is anathema to compromise, which is needed in the US to get things done
( unless you wanna run the country on executive orders)

We are a mess..True story:
When Hong Kong was debating what type of political system to use after it was returned back from the British-
it naturally looked at the USA. But because we are infected with hyper-partisanship USA style politics was rejected.
For centuries the USA was the gold standard ion how to run a democracy, and yes now we are the laughing stock

The Republicans do it different in every state. The Democrats actually have fairly uniform rules for primaries, but caucuses are another question entirely of course.

The Democratic and Republican parties don't have to accept delegates from states that knowingly violate their rules. That is how the parties enforce uniformity.

The rights of people to have their vote counted is not something that varies by state. Thus the system is illegal
