Trump tweets picture of himself eating taco bowl, exclaims "I love Hispanics!"

Seven in 10 women view him unfavorably.

It’s even worse with minorities.

A recent Gallup poll found that 77 percent of Hispanics view Trump unfavorably.

A Washington Post poll pegged that number at eight in 10, seven of them “very unfavorable.”

An NBC News/Survey Monkey poll found an astonishing 86 percent of African Americans had a negative view of Trump.

"Trump first tweeted statistics that broke down New York City shooting suspects by race and ethnicity, citing Fox’s Bill O’Reilly as a source. Minutes later he tweeted again, correlating race and ethnicity with violent crime across the country. In response, media critic Eric Deggans wrote in the Tampa Bay Times: “There is no doubt that violent crime is a serious problem in communities of color. But connecting it to race in such a blunt and unfair fashion seems more about blaming certain kinds of people than solving the problem.”

Of course, New York City’s population is a bit more diverse than the nation; 25% black, 27.5% Hispanic, 2.1% multiethnic and 44.6% white. Also, these are crime suspects, not those who have been convicted of any crime, and their race was likely determined by police, with no guarantee of total accuracy.

Neither of us knows how he actually feels about Hispanics. He's running a campaign to get votes and like most politicians he plays on others fears. He just happens to do it better than most.

One can be honest but tactful. For example, I don't care that Trump says he respects women, hires them, treats them well etc. because his words about them during unguarded moments betray him.
