Bisquick is better. Do you consider the cause of liberty, in America, to be a worthwhile endeavor?
Do you consider committing crimes justified?

Or the overt treason and support of an enemy nation...
Tell us which going nation uses that flag.
yes it's banning flag sales. No one claimed it was an Act of Congress, but it's still a self imposed ban on merchandise. My point was not to ban it -but to marginalize it.I've actually found Wal-Mart's move to be surprising, given it is the most popular retailer in the south. That said, those stores, and any other store which refuses to carry it, are not Congress, and are not "banning" the flag.
The south didn't use the Confederate flag for more then the Civil war..what it your point? The south murdered (and raped) countless enslaved blacks. It just didn't happen over a span of five years.
I'd recommend a visit to Gettysburg -any battlefield will do, but Gettysburg has the best monuments.I don't really care about the monuments, seeing as how they were built to promote southern pride, which is something I don't see the value of. There is no person who supported the CSA whose character or deeds are worth celebrating. They should build monuments to people who were great Americans.

Civil war monuments are not to "southern pride" they are to honor the soldiers. Here is something you might see better that the soldiers
who actually fought the war came to terms with it. They treated each other with honor and respect
sure the flag has been used by bigots. The causes of the war are complex, but slavery is paramount. The flag has been utilized throughout the south to this day, whether as a banner for the KKK or in official capacities, such as state flag designs. Over the years of being told that the flag represents southern heritage, I've always asked if the south had any heritage which precedes 1860. I never really get a response, but, there should be ample opportunity to commemorate southern heritage outside of secession and losing the war.
The monuments are to the persons being memorialized .Grant as a general who doggedly ran down Lee the fox.Monuments to Lee and Jackson, for example, are very much intended to instill southern pride, just as monuments to Grant and Lincoln are to instill American pride
indeed. so why cover it up as an unpleasant/unwanted remembrance? One doesn't need to glorify in the deathsA lot of deaths, roughly 2/3 of them Americans, paid for organizations such as the Civil War Veterans.
Do you consider committing crimes justified?
For the idiots out there, the Civil War had very little to do with slavery. How could it when the north had 4 slave states of its own with a total of 300,000 slaves throughout the war.?
How was the confederacy an enemy nation? All they wanted to do was leave and continue practicing slavery
Do you consider helping slaves escape from terrible people to be a crime?

None of this is in dispute. The flag is an easily recognizable symbol of the south. "southern heritage" is a too wide term.
Plantations with the circumlocution porches are another, but ive heard that disparaged as also symbols of slave labor.
Slavery was integral to the southern economy, and it's difficult to find anything that somehow didn't touch slavery.
I've heard talk of magnolia trees replacing the CSA flag.. Now I easily recognize magnolia blossoms - but to use that as a recognized symbol?
Just what would you recommend as a recognized that has no tangential ties to slavery?

And Lincoln the savior of the Union - with the cost of his assassination. These are HISTORICAL events/persons.
If you feel pride great, if not -fine. But that is not their purpose. Their purpose is to memorialize these great men.
indeed. so why cover it up as an unpleasant/unwanted remembrance? One doesn't need to glorify in the deaths
but one should pay homage to all of them who fought for their country, or state. The men served honorably.
My big beef on all this is the creeping desire to erase history. The CSA flag by itself isn't that big a deal.
But from your responses, and the "mission creep" to vilify the entire south upto and including it's soldiers/culture/existence
to the point you want it all erased is to be blind to U.S. history The good and the bad and the ugly of it all.
Yup, it's a form of extremism and it needs to be called out. The only question is what lurks behind it. Personally, I think it's a pretext to prop-up anti-southern bigotry.

@USF
When were the Irish enslaved by Americans?

I don't want to erase history; I want the shame of the south to stand for all time. Or for the people of the south to denounce their lousy history.
