Trump's foreign policy speech

And does what you say and what we're doing differ from anything Trump has said.....?

Trump hasn't really laid out any strategy. That's kind of the point.

As Rana posted above, the most specific he has gotten about his strategy is that he'd order the military to commit illegal actions.

Blabo seems unable to defend his guy.

Instead, he relies on his usual "they do it too" and squeals "but Hillary" and "but Obama".

Poor Blabo.

The bolded sums up basically everything Trump says to me. Cawacko started another thread today about Trump's naive vision on trade & manufacturing.

He hardly says anything - and consistently so. It all sounds like someone BS'ing on an essay, but someone who is really good at it. That's why people buy it; he's the ultimate confidence(con) man. He just keeps saying "believe me" and things like "it will be fixed so fast your head will spin," and the masses eat it up w/ a spoon.

It's a pretty sad thing - a really scathing commentary on what we look for in leaders, and how informed we really are as a populace.

How does one “apply leverage on China necessary to rein in North Korea,” while slapping a trade-killing tariff on Chinese imports? It’s correct that many of our NATO allies aren’t paying their agreed-upon share of its costs — but what happens to the United States’ overseas bases if we “walk?”

While trumpeting America’s role in winning World War II and the Cold War, Mr. Trump simultaneously pronounced that “America First,” the 1930s isolationist theme that he quoted without attribution, “will be the major and overriding theme of my administration.” He did not bother to square that with his vow not to “hesitate to deploy military force when there is no alternative.” He condemned “nation building,” but said he aims to build “regional stability,” without explaining the difference.

Mr. Trump decried a shrinking American military and the deterioration of the nuclear arsenal. But he did not say how he would further build up the military — which has a budget this year of nearly $600 billion — while cutting government spending, which he also wants to do. And he seems to be ignorant of the sweeping $1 trillion effort to revitalize the nuclear force that is already underway.

Nope, you only read what you want to read, they are cutting off their funds, ISIS is very cash strapped these days, they are cutting off their communications, facebook was the recent assault against ISIS. They are now having to use others means to communicate, in addition to airstrikes on their leaders, which has also crippled their organization.

Which comes under reacting to what blows up in your face. Obama never had a coherent policy in the M.E.

Thats the point....you all have a problem with Trumps plan for ISIS when in reality, he didn't tell us a specific plan....

"And then there’s ISIS. I have a simple message for them. Their days are numbered. I won’t tell them where and I won’t tell them how," he said, then promised that he would never, ever let the American people know how he expects to defeat the primary threat to their well-being. "We have to be unpredictable. And we have to be unpredictable starting now."

So is it the fact that he voiced no plan what the ranting is about ? Or that he won't reveal a plan to the public ?

Hillary's 'plan' isn't very specific either....at least Obama's plan is air strikes and to supply training to others....so we don't know much about anyone's specific 'grand plan' to defeat ISIS....
par for the course, ain't it.

Only if they don't know much. He talks about avoiding nation building, but then in the next breath talks about stabilizing areas - which means keeping troops there & essentially nation-building.

It appeals to nationalists. It holds no appeal for anyone who understands even the basics of sound foreign policy.

That only makes sense if you equate stabilizing with nation building. Does Obama have a stabilization strategy in the region? If so, is he a nation builder?

There are other ways to stabilize the M.E. outside of military intervention. Or did the left give up on diplomacy.

The strategy Hillary Clinton outlined hinges on three main elements – defeating ISIS in Syria, Iraq, and across the Middle East; disrupting and dismantling the growing terrorist infrastructure that facilitates the flow of fighters, financing, arms, and propaganda around the world; and defeat them here at home by foiling plots, disrupting radicalization, and hardening our defenses.

Obama's strategy seems to be air strikes....

How does this differ from anything Trump has said ?

Well, Trump said it so there's that lol.

I think it is bluster and bullshit. He claims to have a secret plan, and his foreign policy advisor is himself, yeah, I'm sure it is going to be huge and amazing. lol

You just have to look at Trump's history on statements like that.

For over a year, he talked about having a team of lawyers in Hawaii on the whole "birther" thing, and that he couldn't believe some of what they were uncovering, and how it was going to shock the American people when he finally came out w/ all that they were finding.

I'd honestly bet that he didn't even have one lawyer in Hawaii. And he certainly never had an earth-shattering announcement. He just makes stuff up. It's all Trump Steaks.

Lol, yeah, I can't believe that hasn't come up yet. He promised one time that he actually had proof and that he would reveal it.

Strangely, I don't recall him ever doing so.

Maybe it'll be like the Normandy invasion....you didn't know about that beforehand either, did you ? lmao

Amazing coincidence...just the other day someone on JPP was hyping a shocking revelation that turned out to be...Trump steaks. :rofl2:
