Yeah it's crazy that software companies sell such products, but then why are the automakers allowed to sell cars capable of 100 mph +???

april 26 2016 Snapchat has a filter that lets people share how fast they're traveling while they take selfies.
A car accident victim is blaming Snapchat's speed filter for a crash that left him with traumatic brain injuries, according to a new lawsuit.

The plaintiff, Wentworth Maynard, was merging onto a four lane highway outside of Atlanta, Georgia when his car was struck "so violently it shot across the left lane into the left embankment," his lawyers contend.

Christal McGee was allegedly driving the car that struck him. The lawsuit says that she was on her phone trying to use the Snapchat speed filter at the time of the accident.
"McGee wanted to post an image of herself going fast. She argued that she was, 'Just trying to get the car to 100 miles per hour to post it on Snapchat.'" the victim's lawyers say.

A passenger in McGee's car said she had hit 113 mph on the Snapchat filter, they added. When the cars hit, the speed was 107 mph, according to the complaint. The speed limit was 55.
"While [she] was distracted and on her phone, McGee did not notice that a gray Mitsubishi, driven by Maynard Wentworth, had pulled out onto the road," the complaint says.

Well in Germany, some of the autobahns have only an advisory speed limit of 130kph, however in practice there is no limit! I was in a car there way back with my friend who had an Audi Quattro at the time. He wanted to know the top speed and managed to get it up to nearly 220kph.

Learn to read, slimy Limey.

What is it with you and these "yeah, but in (insert name of irrelevant jurisdiction) it's legal" venue changes you're so fond of quoting?

This tragedy didn't happen in Germany, just as Adam Johnson didn't groom a young girl someplace where it might have been legal. He did it in England, and he was convicted and sentenced accordingly.

Prevailing laws apply at the time and place that events occur.

Twat.

It goes to the proper use of a car, dumbass twat.

Cars don't kill people, people with cars kill people.

I know that. I own a truck and i realize the problem is the psychopath behind the wheel. We need much much stricter penalties for speeding and red light running and such. This girl should be locked up for years and never be allowed to drive again. But i bet she gets off with just a fine and that will encourage more crimes like this.

You know your argument is weak when your defense is "The nazis did it so it must be ok".

That's right. Speed limit max should be 55 mph and penalties should be severe. Why do we coddle these killers and maimers on our highways.?

Since the car was manufactured to go that fast, liberals will want to sue the manufacturer if someone drives the car that fast and it causes injury.

Or not, because liberals are plain stupid on that front.

I think German manufacturer's have a gentlemen's agreement in place where they all have limiters that restrict top speeds to under 250 kph. Of course you can get the limiter taken out and exceed that, if the car is capable.
