Muslims for Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders is the closest candidate to the aspirations of millions of decent Americans dreaming of a better future.
Today, I think of the possibility of "democracy" in the US in exactly the way Gandhi is reported to have thought of "Western civilisation": It would be a great idea.
On the Republican front, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are clean-shaven prehistoric cave-dwellers in business suits, while Hillary Clinton on the Democratic front is the dictionary definition of a chameleon - like a corrupt politician changing colour depending on which way the political wind blows but consistently representing mega-donors, big banks, and Super PACs without any moral scruples, while feigning that she cares about the poor and the disenfranchised.
In this presidential campaign, Bernie Sanders is the closest candidate to the aspirations of millions of decent Americans dreaming of a better future for their children while refusing to lend their name to an imperial republic that systematically arms the rich tyrants around the world, supports Israel stealing Palestine and murdering Palestinians one settlement at a time, and helps to create monstrosities such as ISIL.

There are 3.3 million Muslims living in the United States, about 1% of the total U.S. population.
Native-born American Muslims are mainly African Americans who make up about a quarter of the total Muslim population. Many of these have converted to Islam during the last seventy years.
These simple facts are of immense importance to the future of the USA. Unless there is a just solution to the malignant Israeli occupation of Palestine the country will soon find that a growing majority of its population is opposed to the foreign policy contrived between AIPAC, the arms industry and corporate America- the military/industrial complex responsible for the most recent Middle East military and cultural disasters.
It isn't a matter of religion. Many Christian and secular Americans already oppose the Occupation and spurious government support for it and that number is due to become more important to vote-scrabbling politicos than their current, pro-Israel, support base.
In addition the world Muslim population is huge and interaction with it is hugely important. Never mind the tiny proportion of extremists- Christian and Jewish extremists are equally insane. . That interaction is utterly dependent upon the application of international law and America's respect for international law must be seen to be applied if US status as a seat of justice and democracy is to be rebuilt and maintained. Sanders is the only presidential runner who realises this- not only realizes it but is unafraid to espouse that belief as policy.
It's THE most important election issue as no other so greatly affects the balance between war and peace . It's the issue which the AIPAC-backed military/industrial complex wants sidelined and diminished. There is no profit for war-dependent bodies in a peaceful future.
Sanders is unlikely to be able to topple the establishment at this juncture, of course. The nauseatingly-wealthy establishment has fooled many poorer Americans into supporting it. But the looming election is NOT the end of the story. Sanders isn't going to disappear and neither is the movement for change which he leads. It will survive the forces of investigative committees and the CIA which any Trump or Clinton administration will throw at it and it will triumph eventually- simply because it is DEMOCRATIC in the intended sense of the word .
So let's kick the asses of Islamophobes and get real. It isn't really difficult to read between the lines of the corporate media.
