Apple, as much as I despise them as a whole, do take the privacy of their users very seriously, and given their commitment and track record to and on that, I don't see any reason to doubt them when they say they can't get into the phone, either.

Another low IQ moron. The whole fapgate was about dozens, if not hundreds, of celebs getting their naked pics stolen off of their iphones. If that is apple taking people's security seriously, then I'd hate to see how their phones would work like if they didn't.

Several reasons, but it boils down to a slippery slope.

The government will have a very hard time legally to force APPLE to create software to break into the phone. I doubt they can make Apple take affirmative steps to develop software.

If they do develops the software, the legal argument for forcing them to use it on phones is much easier. IN the future it would be very easy, legally speaking, to subpoena the software for national security reasons. Its a fine point, but a significant one. Forcing a private company to use software is legally speaking much easier than forcing them to create software.


I am shocked that both parties and all, except Sanders, of the Candidates for president are supporting the idea that the government should require APPLE, a private company, to develop software that will make it possible to break into people's private data.

I believe them that they have intentionally, due to privacy reasons, not developed the software. I agree it seems it would be very easy for them to do it, but they have not done so. I am sure some of their programmers, unofficially, have done it under the table, but the company clearly does not own or want to own and did not intentionally develop such software.

While it might make American citizens safer, I prefer the liberty over the safety.

APPLE has not made such a "key" because once that door is open, its open. You can say you will only use it for terrorists, but that can AND WILL be expanded ad infantine.

At this point its not really a 4th Amendment issue, its clear that opening the phone, if the technology existed to do it, would be reasonable and a warrant could easily be attained.

The question is can a private company be compelled to develop software, that will help them view the information in the phone.
