Imagine you are an ISIS leader...

So, just for a second imagine you are an ISIS leader.

You have just pulled of a huge plot to blow up the airport at the European Capitol, the media is going crazy, you are getting the attention you so desperately crave.

Everyone is talking about it and they are afraid of you, finally you are getting what you want....

So you go to the internet or television to see the terror in the eye of the President of your biggest enemy, you cant wait to see President Obama cutting short his international trip because of actions you are responsible for, you cant wait to see him huddle with is advisors about what to do about you, you cant wait to see him shaking in his shoes...

You flick on the television and there he is, Dancing the Tango in Argentina. (I LOVE IT) Its exactly the image I want the ISIS leaders to see, they are a fly speck on the wall of history. They cant even interrupt the President of the United States from his Tango lesson!


Now, I hope and believe that behind the scenes Obama is having meetings and on the phone directing a strong response, but the optics should show him dancing the Tango all day!

Terrorist attacks do little primary damage, their entire point is to sow terror and allow the enemy to consume itself. No terrorist attack would ever happen again the day after you passed a bill censoring coverage of terrorism, because the attack would be robbed of its point. The press are the terrorists greatest ally.
 
Obama caught a lot of heat for that - but I thought he was doing exactly the right thing.

I think Europe gets this better than America does, because they have had a history of violence on their soil. You can be vigilant and do what you need to in order to prevent terrorists action - but the minute you let it restructure the way you live, they win.

The optics are important, it would have given the ISIS member on the street a bit of encouragement to see the President react.

Instead, they pull off one of their biggest days... and what the hell... he's dancing the Tango in Argentina and going to a baseball game in Cuba.

The Cons seem to be leaving in droves, could it be the current political environment does not serve to encourage them to discuss politics?
 
My opinion is the terrorists don't give a crap about Obama one way or the other lol. They are going to keep doing what they do regardless of what Obama does or what Trump says. Their mission is to bring infidels under submission to Islam.

It's really not that hard to figure out.

I doubt the current administration would violate the first amendment, but President Trump might use your idea.

Where did you ever get the bolded?

The stated goal of most Islamic terrorist groups for decades is to create an Islamic state in the Middle East, and to remove western influence from that region. It has nothing to do w/ who they consider to be "infidels" in other regions of the world.

I am sorry but that is unadulterated bullshit, the stated aim of radical Islamists like Daesh is to establish a worldwide Caliphate.
