Where do you find that the Liberals were supporting him? The Communists and the Socialists were fighting him for sure, I don't think there was an organized group of liberals akin to American liberals in Germany at the time, they were lumped in with the Socialists.

Out of these parties, all besides the Socialists voted for the Nazi's. The German State party is the remnants of the German Democratic Party, it was a social liberal party and once one of the largest parties in Germany, but by this time had been thoroughly reduced like all the other centrists. The German People's Party was a right-wing liberal (i.e. libertarian) party. The Centre party was a centrist party based around Catholics (as was it's Bavarian Branch, the Bavarain People's Party). The DNVP was a less populist German nationalist party than the Nazi's, which opposed democracy and wanted a return to monarchism, but was ultimately forcibly merged into the Nazi's. The Communists would've voted against the enabling act, but were prohibited from taking their seats in the Reichstag.

It should be noted that I am not only referring to the parties themselves. I am referring to the former voters of these parties. As they shrank in size, the Nazi's increased, which is a clear indication where Hitler was getting his new voters over the time period. The Socialist and the Communist voter bases were the only ones who weren't tempted.

I don't think you can compare the names of the parties in pre-war Germany to the groups that currently use the same names in the Untied States with regard to ideology.

I can see however, how the more liberal of the groups were the only ones who would oppose the Nazi's in the end.

What? That's not what I was doing. There is no American State Party or American People's Party or American Centre Party. I was specifically going back and researching the ideology of the party in question.
 
The German State Party even ran on a joint list with the Social Democrats, but they still voted for the enabling act like cowards. Later the Nazi's banned them, with the justification that since they ran on a joint list, they were essentially Social Democrats by another name. So that's what their obsequiousness got them.

It's interesting: at most companies, Trump would probably be fired for what he tweeted about Heidi Cruz.

And yet he's a leading candidate for President.
 
Trump is publically using threats and intimidation to bully his political opponents. This is who the majority of Republicans want as their representative their choice for President. No wonder they elected Nixon, twice.

If he's elected, for 4 years, every political opponent or anyone who opposes him in any way will hear his usual refrain of "be careful, or I could be not-so-nice."

I hate bullies. Always have.

I can't quite decide what will be more fun to watch. Hillary beating Donald in a landslide or Hillary beating Raphael in a landslide. Maybe I'll get lucky and I can watch both happen this November.

Word is though that there is a good chance Willard will get the GOP nomination In a third ballot draft. That could "Trump" them all!
