Study: 3 federal laws could reduce gun deaths by more than 90%

Then you agree that background checks are necessary?

They would help with the strictly lunatic ones (VA TECH for example) but only if mental health professionals reported their lunatic patients. But the VA TECH employed mental health professional did not violating law in the process. And so 30+ are dead, his hands are forever bloody and he walks free.

Stop ignoring the real problems.

The ONLY reason pols carry on is Gabrielle Giffords. Ergo the focus on rifles (hammers murder more people than all rifles combined).

And those same pols know why the 2nd ammend ment was included.

the problem with this issue is the two sides have very different goals. I am personally unconcerned with any death toll. It's completely irrelevant to me. So when you say 90% of gun deaths could be reduced, it's completely meaningless to me. I only care about the total absolute freedom to bear arms.

At the very minimum all guns should be registered to an owner, any that are not could then be confiscated.

Sorry redcoat. We quite enjoyed having our guns to kill you motherfuckers. LOL at a brit telling us we should have our guns confiscated. get real.

Cars are registered with their owners so why are guns different?
I'll try to keep this short and civil. Vehicle registration is a tax collection scheme. Even the most thorough background check is a snapshot at best. Criminals do not obey the law anyway(:whoa:I know! Amazing concept, right?!).

How it works

* Liberals pass some bullshit tax law that no one actually wants to pay
* Liberals then later on say, "hey we regulate this... why not regulate that other thing as well?" (As if you are fine paying the government their protection money in the first place)
* Repeat

Did liberals pass all the tax laws currently in place?

"Protection money"? Would that be the defense budget you're talking about ?

It is?

I thought it was a means of establishing clear ownership and fitness for use on public roads.
No. A vehicle's title establishes clear ownership, and an annual vehicle inspection to certify "fitness for use on public roads" as part of the registration process is required in some states. My state stopped that, and emission testing, probably 25 years ago when they realized it was expensive and inefficient.

Don't be stupid, vehicles are registered so that the drivers can be identified if they cause an accident, speed or attempt to escape. What is so special about guns?

Are you claiming that the registration process in your state allows you to license and drive a home-made vehicle on public roads?
