Could Trump Sweep America Like Obama did in 2008?

I'll start off by saying they are very different candidates. Obama was a breath of fresh air, Hillary (whom many thought had the nod in lock) was not a breath of fresh air. The democrats saw this and stood firmly behind Obama.

Trump, one can hardly argue he is not a breath of fresh air. What I mean by that is that he is not like any 'politician' you have seen in the last 100 years. I watched him after Rubio said this would not be about insults etc., the moderator said something like, Trump will you do the same? Trump gave his usual smug grin with a slight nod that indicated yes, then he just went straight into insults. Without batting an eye.

And people are eating this stuff up. It is reality TV in prime time. I've watched some of the debates with friends and we keep asking - Is this Saturday Night Live?

Could Trump be so different than the status quo to win?

If he continues to connect with the "silent majority", this could what everyone has been wishing for.
I'm waiting to see what percentage of the voting population gets out and actually does something for once.

I'm truly saddened Trump is our likely president elect. I thought I could vote for him over a Hillary or a Bernie, but I just know I can't.

Vote for Gary Johnson, since our state is going to vote for Hillary, anyway. Vote and caucus for your preferred candidate in May, and then be free in November. That's what I do. I caucused for Ron Paul the last two presidential elections, and then voted for a different candidate. Last time I also voted for Gary Johnson.

More than a century ago, the big populist candidate was William Jennings Bryan. He lost twice to McKinley, and then ran against Taft in 1908. The Taft campaign slogan was "Vote for Taft This Time - You Can Vote for Bryan, Anytime!" Populist candidates are the absolute worst, and their voters represent the single most moronic segment of the voting population. Fuck populism.

This sums why Obama has been so bad for our country. I have a couple of friends over in Eastern Wa who are prepared to help with a brokered convention. But like Bernie (populist on the left) voters who will likely not vote Hillary in a general election, I think a brokered convention will alienate Trump voters.

Good point. He debates like a school yard bully. Doesn't really seem to have solid plans, talks smack and still people seemingly want him in office. If there really are powers that be that control the government more than a president, congress or scotus, maybe it doesn't matter if Trump is elected. He will simply be an empty suit taking orders from his 'masters'.

If his winning changes our current political status quo bullshit, I'm all for Trump. He would only last 4 years and I don't think he would even consider running again.

Silly Pastor.
Wasn't that the campaign where Reagan promised never to touch any social programs?

Typical socialist

not sure.....I do know it was Reagan's second best sweep of the electoral votes.......he did better in 84 after people got to see how he handled things, you know......today's braindead liberals pretend he wasn't a good president......but those that were there at the time knew better.......

I saw Cruz interviewed, and he doesn't seem to think a brokered convention will work, either.

Just remember: The Obama disaster and the Republican establishment's inability to rein in that son of a bitch CREATED the Trump phenomenon. The Trump movement never would have been possible if (a) Mitt Romney hadn't been such a limp dick pussy of a candidate and (b) the Republican party actually made good on its promise to rein Obama in.

Trump and Cruz are the two revolution candidates. They couldn't get arrested had the Republican party done its job.

Yes you can. He's better qualified than anyone else in the race. He knows more about expanding a national economy than the last six Democrat Presidents combined. He works harder that any THREE candidates from either party. He is more believable than any of the other candidates.

Hillary is a criminal and Bernie is a fucking communist nut job. Choosing THE DONALD over those two retards should be the easiest decision you ever made, that is if you don't HATE AMERICA.

A brokered convention where Donald doesn't win the nom will result in a Trump party run in November and the end for the GOP...
Even booger eating Cruz knows this...

Granted, Trump is a dishonest man, but he told O'Reilly last night that he has no plans to run as an independent if he is denied the nomination. He even said he owes a lot to the Republican Party and could never do it. That said, there's still the matter of his idiot followers.
